About Witton Castle Country Park

Set in 330 acres of beautiful Durham countryside, Witton Castle dates back to the fifteenth century. Today, this idyllic estate features high-end luxury lodges and caravan holiday homes as well as an excellent range of facilities including nature reserves and lakes for both activities and fishing. Within the castle itself there are bars, a coffee shop, a soft play area, a fish & chip shop and the Witton Castle restaurant which is open Wednesday to Saturday evenings and for Sunday lunch. The menu features classic pub favourites and a traditional Sunday roast, served in a unique and historic setting.

Second time at Witton Castle for Sunday Lunch and again the food and the service was amazing. Set in beautiful surroundings, the restaurant over looks the grounds, making the whole experience wonderful.

We really enjoyed our Sunday lunch just sad we had no room left for dessert. The staff were so friendly and helpful and performed their role brilliantly. Will definitely be back now that we have a lodge here. Very keen to try the other menus too

Sunday Lunch, we hadn’t been for a while and to be fair was quite disappointed ☹️ gluten free meal used to have Yorkshire pudding but not anymore! Optional choice of cabarta roll with meat & Roast Potatoes & gravy but very dry, no stuffing with the Pork or Turkey & Roast Potatoes cooked lovely but no taste! Stuffing in a hard square & not very nice, definitely needs some tweaking!

Very disappointed with Sunday lunch. We both opted for the beef, this was so tough i needed i saw to cut through it. Veg was plentiful but only just warm. Yorkshire pudding looked good but again it had been kept warm for hours. We ate at 1 15pm. Staff were good just a shame the food wasn't. True British couple and didn't complain to staff as we knew they would have just zapped it in the microwave.
