The Crooked Billet – TadcasterTop notch , must have. No need to to Aagraar anymore.
Sonali Restaurant – TadcasterMyself and my boyfriend visited The Ash Tree on May Bank Holiday. We had never eaten here before but when we popped in for a drink a few weeks ago the food looked lovely. We were not disappointed at all. The food and service was excellent. The staff were very welcoming. My boyfriend had steak pie (proper homemade) with lovely homemade chips. I had a steak baguette, and it was lovely. The food is not over complicated, and does what it says on the tin! It's fresh and v tasty. We really enjoyed it, and will go back. The beer garden is lovely too.
Ash Tree Inn and Restaurant – TadcasterI've eaten at many Indian restaurants over the years, but sonali is the one I return to time and time again. The food is second to none. The staff are friendly and attentive without being in your face all the time. Their takeaway on Kirkgate 'Cottage of India' is also well worth a visit.
Sonali Restaurant – TadcasterA Word Of Caution !!! This Steakhouse Will Ruin Your Opinion of any other steak you ever have again ! No .. I'm Not Kidding Honest !.. Juicy , tasty, tender ,Cooked to perfection Loveliness.....mmmmmm. ! Wherever I have a steak anywhere else in the world I 'm left slightly disappointed and have to go back for my Rythre Fix again The hospitality is very warm and welcoming as you would expect of a traditional Yorkshire pub in the heart of Gods country . All You Carnivores - A Must Do Before You Die
The Rythre Arms Steakhouse – TadcasterFantastic, the most juicy succulent steak I have ever eaten. Up to the usual high standards of this my favourite steakhouse ever. Don't bother trying anywhere else, if you fancy a good steak which is cooked exactly as you like it then book a table at The Rythre Arms. Friendly atmosphere, good beer and then the best steaks in the world. Talking to the landlord I found out that this place has been in the family for some time, this being the second generation and they pride themselves on using the finest produce. They have certainly got things right here and I cannot wait to go back
The Rythre Arms Steakhouse – TadcasterThe rythre arms is the best steakhouse I've ever eaten in. Having lived in London for the past 4 years I stll haven't found anywhere that comes close, even travelling the USA nothing compares. The staff are all friendly, the host is welcoming and always comes over for a chat. It's a friendly place that I always look forward to returning to. I really can't speak highly enough of the place, I would recommend the carpetbagger to anyone. And the onion rings are to die for!!!
The Rythre Arms Steakhouse – TadcasterFriendly, welcoming atmosphere with good attention to detail. Without doubt the best steaks in the world and with an excellent wine list to match. There is something for everyone on the menu but you must try the steak, my sirloin was cooked to perfection. Treat yourself.
The Rythre Arms Steakhouse – TadcasterGreat find, excellent food and wine offering. Not your run of the mill pub, feel really looked after and special. Well worth the drive.
Ye Old Sun Inn – TadcasterThis is the steak mecca of Yorkshire, if you like steak and you haven't been to the Rythre you are doing yourself an injustice. Not cheap, but then excellence never is. The fillet steak is simply the best you will ever taste. Enjoy.
The Rythre Arms Steakhouse – TadcasterWe had Sunday Lunch here, and it was excellent. I hadn't been for about 9yrs, and my partner hadn't been for 21yrs. The food was great then, and it is the same quality today. ALos same owners since we had both visited! This is a lovely, traditional pub that serves fresh, home made food! No frozen rubbish here! The roast beef was excellent, and cooked to your liking - pink, well done etc. £7.95 for a quality roast dinner, with lovely, efficient friendly service is spot on! The steaks are renowned, so we will definitely go back. Well worth a visit.
The Rythre Arms Steakhouse – TadcasterMy Husband and i would like to thank the staff and the chef again for an absolutely fantastic meal last night, We have visited the ash tree twice in a week, that to me is enough of a recommendation to anyone! the food was fabulous, we had steak pie and broccoli cream cheese bake with chips and vegetables, they were all served piping hot and elegantly presented and the portions were just right, we also enjoyed hot chocolate fudge cake and treacle sponge and custard. we were delighted again and would like to recommend the ash tree to any one who is passing, you definitely will not regret your decision to dine there!
Ash Tree Inn and Restaurant – TadcasterMyself and my new Husband held our wedding reception at the ash Tree inn on the 25th July 2009, we had the most fantastic day and the food was fabulous, The reception was held in the Marquee in the garden and we were able to have some fantastic photographs taken around the pond and on the top paddock. All of the staff worked so hard to make our day special and we didn't want for anything, the evening Buffet was also fantastic with something for everyone. not one of our guests said a bad word about anything, and most commented that it was the best wedding reception they had ever been to. we will definitely be visiting the ash tree again in the very near future, we would recommend it to any couples who are getting married as we didn't have to worry about a thing and the setting and scenery is remarkable, the marquee is fabulous too!
Ash Tree Inn and Restaurant – TadcasterI have been to this little hideaway of a restaurant twice and both times have enjoyed it immensely. The food is delicious and a change from some of the standard Indian dishes (only restaurant where I've seen duck lankini) and the service is excellent. Would advise getting there early though as it is rather small and gets very busy.
Sonali Restaurant – TadcasterI had Sunday Lunch here and was quietly impressed. There were no fancy gastropub pretensions, just good honest grub. I've had several disappointments recently with pubs that aspire to greater things and so it was a relief to go somewhere that delivered simple food but done well. Portions are generous; a starter of deep-fried brie was two thick wedges of cheese, and the paté came with plenty of toast as opposed to the usual measley two slices. Roast mains were both excellent; the beef served pink and the pork still moist and tender. You can request the number of Yorkshire puddings you want and they arrive freshly made, fabulously misshapen and tasty. Veg was the weak link; the roasties were a little disappointing, while the cauliflower cheese and carrots were fine. Loved the gravy... loads of it in a jug and thick and rich. This place has a bit of a reputation as a steakhouse and I'm looking forward to returning and giving them a try.
The Rythre Arms Steakhouse – TadcasterMy wife and I visited the Ash Tree on Tues. 23/06/09 at lunch time. The first favourable item that we noticed (and remarked on) was the hedge around the car park. Very neatly trimmed, indeed. We asked for a large glass of Chardonnay and a pint of Black Sheep bitter. The nice lady behind the bar said that they did not have a big range of wines by the glass. However, if we had wanted a bottle the choice would have been larger. No matter, we were quite happy with what we got. We ordered the fried haddock, and were pleasantly surprised when we saw that it was not overburdened with batter, as is often the case in some other pubs. For we pensioners, therefore, the meal was quite large enough. It's usually the batter that fills (or overfills) us, but it was just right at the Ash Tree. We shall visit again.
Ash Tree Inn and Restaurant – TadcasterThe service was friendly but the menu was poor with not much choice, the main courses were of a good size but would've been better if the chips had been cooked and not just threatened with the hot oil! The Billet is not the food pub it once was very disappointing to say the least.
The Crooked Billet – Tadcasterwe recently had a meal at the crooked billet and I'm sorry to say that it was the worst the meal i have ever had, we have been going there for a few months before hand and we really enjoyed the service and the fantastic food that the billet was offering, so we returned on a regular basis, as of a week ago for some reason the quality of service and food has dropped to a level that quite frankly is disgusting the regular manager was not there and the manager at the time was rude and frankly did not care about our complaint, we are sorry that the standards have dropped so much because we did really enjoy going there in the past...
