Our party of 4 had a great meal with good beer and wine. The atmosphere was fine, although we were asked to leave at 2140, as the pub was very quiet.

Hubby had a mixed grill with salad ( MR ) I had a Wexford steak ( MR ) - followed by cherry pie and cream The steaks were cooked perfectly and delicious, the pub was cozy and warm ( very frosty outside) the staff were both friendly and welcoming ( as always ) Friday 9th January

WE have been going to Panama Hattys for at least 25 years so it was the obvious choice for my husbands 80th birthday lunch.There were 15 of us mainly family including adults and children.Everyone enjoyed it and we all ate very well.All the staff are very welcoming and the service slick but not rushed. We will continue to go there a few times a year.It is lovely.

We came on New Year’s Day for my birthday celebration. The team were fabulous. Really welcoming and attentive. They helped my husband surprise me with a glass of fizz on arrival and a birthday cake. The food was really tasty and the portions were huge! Despite being busy the service was swift and friendly.

Great food, lovely atmosphere and staff. Nice log burner next to our table which was an added bonus and dog friendly too. Definitely recommend a visit!

Everything was excellent, the food was fresh and the Yorkshire pudding was amazing. Service was beyond great. The Sunday lunch is fabulous, we have never been disappointed. They also welcome dogs, in a doggy area in the pub!

My wife and I and 2 friends had dinner on New Year’s Eve. The food was exceptional. The service was second to none and the whole experience was wonderful. Friendly staff and a terrific atmosphere. I would give them 20 out of 10’if I could. They also don’t implement a service charge which most restaurants annoyingly seem to do. I did however have no objection to leaving a tip because the Alvanley deserved it.

THE ALVANLEY HAS ALWAYS BEEN S GREAT PLACE FOR FOOD. THIS VISIT WAS NO DIFFERENT. THE STAFF ARE ALWAYS VERY HELPFUL AND THE SUNDAY LUNCHES ARE VERY GOOD

Busy (well it was Christmas week) lunchtime visit. As always a very warm welcome & shown straight to our table. Team here are always friendly even when rushed off their feet. Nothing too much trouble for them. We weren't having the Christmas menu & opted for the Beef & Ale pie, cheips & veg. Excellent food, well cooked & piping hot. Table nearby were having the Christmas meal & it looked excellent - couldn't argue with the portion sizes either. A favourite of ours & we look forward to being back in the New Year.

Great food and very comfortable atmosphere.

Recently had an excellent meal at Spurstow. Fantastic food and service as usual. Been eating there for over 25 years. Management is absolutely superb never had a complaint in all those years

What a wonderful time we had. We booked a meal after my dad’s 80th birthday ‘I-fly’ in Manchester and it did not disappoint on any level. Fabulous food, super service, delightful decor, an exquisite experience all round. Everyone made my dad feel really special as did the other dinners (who I think were lucky to be more local than us - thus can visit more easily and enjoy the lovely wine!) We will be back…and I would strongly recommend a visit. It’s certainly worth the trip…

Lovely food( mostly!!), excellent waitress and service 2nd christmas meal I've had this year t the Alvanley. Please read the reviews as once again the mince pies were absolutely inedible!! Learn to make pastry or buy some in.

We came here on a Wednesday night with a couple of friends and well, what a lovely experience we had. Hot, fresh and delicious food, quick service for drinks and all servers were so friendly and approachable. Couldn't do enough for us! Especially with the "extra touch" the lady (I can't remember her name unfortunately) did for us with my partner's hot chocolate. Truly delightful night.

Met my friend at Avanley. Unfortunately couldnt have Christmas meal as we didnt know to prebook..however we had the mixed grill and was lovely. Cooked just right.

Usual good food and excellent service. Sunday Roast was top notch and plenty of it.

The food was delicious and good value. The dining area was freezing when the front door opened though and the staff were not allowed to shut the outer doors to prevent this happening as the management declined our request and that of multiple other diners. This did have a significant negative impact on our experience unfortunately.
