Ithacles

We were seated fairly quickly - orders and food also arrived promptly. However, the Thai style chicken was clearly a Chinese take on a Thai curry with a fusion that sorely missed its mark. The eggy chicken was in an egg-based sauce - the only Thai element being the coriander, thus leaving the dish with a hollow body. It would be recommended to rely less on egg, to boil the chicken in stock, and to focus on more on quality ingredients. Xen appears to be the only Asian based restaurant with the pretense of affordability. However when compared to the quality of establishments in London, it is lacking by being both more expensive (even in Zone 2 - outside of central London), and by offering a fusion that is so ethnically disconnected, you may as well have gone to the chippy. It falls far short of the formulaic fast food franchises such as Wagamama's. To finish, we didn't pay service charge - but of course that might be expected if you get ignored and have to ask for the bill only as you're leaving.

I recently visited Chantek with my wife and eighteen-month old son and had a fantastic meal. They found us a quiet corner and made us all feel very much at home. There was a perfect menu for our little one (he LOVED the food and the staff LOVED him!!) and we were spoilt for choice, too. We were both amazed by the spicy Thai papaya salad with lime juice, dried shrimps, chili and green papaya. I also really enjoyed the tom yum soup with prawns. It's the kind of dish that could ward off the nastiest of flu bugs, with its hit of ginger and chillies - clean, hot and fresh flavours. Mains included a sublime Thai curry and a Chili Beef from the specials board made with prime Cornish Beef. I'd recommend Chantek to anyone heading down to Cornwall (in fact, we've already spread the word as far round our hotel as we could manage!). The food is great, the atmosphere relaxed and friendly and the space is lovely.

we recently got married in Truro and whilst browsing the Internet to find suitable venue to take our guests who had travelled down from Lancashire to celebrate with us we came across Tabbs. We had no prior knowledge of Nigel & his reputation but on contacting him he went out of his way to help us with our menu etc. On arriving at Tabbs the whole party was bowled over with the decor & we all agreed that the food was he best we had ever tasted anywhere. A big THANKYOU to Nigel & his staff for making our day extra special. We will definitely be visiting him on our anniversary.

One of the most striking things about Xen Noodle Bar is its creative and varied menu: it offers so many different and intriguing options that each visit is a new adventure. Add to this prompt, courteous service and reasonable prices, and you'll be tempted to become a regular here. The interiors of the restaurant are hip and fresh, yet the atmosphere falls far short of "romantic meal out" status because of consistently high noise levels. The dining area is a single rectangular room with little to cushion the sound of the diners continually filling it. Booths offer only some privacy. If you are in the mood for a quick meal in a lively atmosphere, don't let the noise keep you away. But for a quiet meal in an atmosphere that makes you want to linger, for romance, or for more than casual conversations, head elsewhere.

I've been to Fodders for lunch.Really good quality food lots of veggie options although sometimes prices seem a little higher than other venues.Warm and Cozy on a blustery day! It's not the easiest to find if you don't know Truro. It's down the alleyway behind the lemon quay pannier market and up the wooden stairs Doesn't open in the evenings

As an out-of-townee on a weekend break in Truro, I felt lucky to discover Bustophers. Enjoyed a superb Sunday lunch of Fishcakes with local beer. The Fishcakes were delicious and full of fish (which isn't always the case in restaurants - sometimes they're more potato than fish, aren't they?!). Then I enjoyed a glass of local champagne with pudding. Friendly and efficient service with loads of Sunday papers to dip into. Great views of Lemon Street to watch the world go by. It's a reason to return to Truro! Definitely recommend to anyone for a very enjoyable time.

food debris on menu, food debris on walls, food debris in waiters hair, chef picking nose in open kitchen, very old/slightly smelly chicken and pork, garnish on all plates was shredded cabbage and carrot - which was so old and dehydrated it must have been a week old. I am baffled and amazed. Please people, take notice of these details. If their front of house, menus and staff are dirty ... Imagine the inside of the their fridges. A positive note, was nicely flavoured sauces.

Chantek, took the friends for a lunch, we had the special soup, it was a disappointment the soup looks like a dirty water with a few pasta and mince and extra chilli, the duck in my opinion was frozen and badly cook. this must be for a cheap people, chantek never again.

We went here with a small group of visitors. we were quite embarrassed, as they left out 2 main courses when serving us. The wait was long and the service poor. the waitresses were not up to the standard I would expect. Not sure if I would recommend it for groups, they seem unable to cope. Probably better if there re 2-4 people. Shame really, as the ambience is good.

This is the first time we have visited Bustopher Jones. The atmosphere and staff was very friendly, and the food superb. We are both vegetarians so we had lovely bread, olives, and balsamic vinegar and olive oil dip to start. We followed by Haloumi and Vegetable char grilled kebabs with Pitta bread, humous, salad and cherry tomatoes, plus a side of lovely thin fries. All the food was excellent, as was the large glasses of Chilean Merlot. Superb coffee. All in all a very good lunch!

The restaurant was nice and the waitress was friendly, but the food was really terrible. The mussels we had for starter smelt off. the sirloin steak turned out to be rump and was completely overcooked as were the crunchy chips that came with it. Even the peppers in the salad were mouldy. As for my guests meal, the tuna steak looked and tasted like something out of a nightmare. Honestly, it was grey, and so chewy, the first small bite was enough. As for the prawns that went with it, who knows what happened to them but they were soggy and disgusting. My guest found it inedible. We left the restaurant swiftly and feeling rather nauseous. I can safely say it was one of the worst meals we have had for a very long time, how anyone can get it so wrong is beyond belief.
