I went to Gulshan some years ago when it was in Grampound & I remember the food being good. However, on our visit tonight, the food was excellent! I had a really delicious lamb balti, with lots of tender lamb & a lovely thick flavoursome sauce. Really good portions of pilau rice (about the same price as Chantek, but at least 4 times as much!) The naan bread was cooked to perfection, unlike some leathery offerings I have been presented with at some Indian restaurants! I would even rate the house wine highly & I am quite fussy about my wine! A bottle is £10.50 & there is a reasonable selection of other drinks. Service was good & unobtrusive; the only criticism I have is that we booked for 7 & it was nearly 7.30 when we were shown to our table. Still, we were served pretty promptly. A good sign was how busy it was for a Sunday, with a steady stream of people for takeaways as well. The restaurant used to be a coffee shop & it is very light & airy. There is a small bar area & white leather sofas to wait on. Very clean toilets!! We are already planning our next visit & will pop in for takeaway if we are returning from a shopping trip in Truro.

Went to Chantek for the first time last night - it was absolutely packed on both floors, really buzzing, but the staff could not have been friendlier. Our waitress just smiled all the time! We were lucky enough to sit right next to the kitchen, which is great fun, especially when flames shot into the air from the woks!! I chose red duck curry, which was wonderful, but I think I would have been more than happy with any of the dishes. Mine contained fresh pineapple & grapes! I only had a couple of minor gripes - the rice is overpriced for the size of the portion. It is £2.50 for jasmine rice & you only get a very small bowl, so you are left with loads of sauce. The noodles are also a bit pricey at £4.50. Also, the winelist is short & a bit ordinary eg Jacobs Creek, Blossom Hill etc. We paid £20 for a bottle of Chablis, which was nothing exceptional. My best friend is booking a table for Saturday on the strength of last night & we can't wait to sample another superb meal!

I can thoroughly recommend Coffee Traders in Truro. Great choice of hot and cold food, all freshly prepared and cooked to order; ranging from a toasted teacake right up to a cooked meal. Items include cakes and pastries, toasted sandwiches, home-made soups, baguettes and wraps, plus lots more, offering great value for money. The café has bright, airy surroundings, and the staff members are both friendly and willing to accommodate. A baby change facility is available on the first floor. If the aroma of freshly perked coffee doesn? tempt you, then nothing will!

In need of comforting food on a drab mid week evening, I knew what I needed was available at Tabbs new place. The Parsnip soup with toasted sesame oil was a revelation, served with moorish home baked rolls. The main of red mullet was perfectly cooked and came with squid ink tagliatelli and a delicate creme of snow pea and mint, side orders of pommes boulangere and green beans made for a satisfying meal. Superb!

This is a great summer stop-off for a pasty and a pint as you drift up the river. Fantastic view looking out over the river and a cosy little bar and tables inside. I wish they opened in the winter so that you could enjoy the log fire!

I went for lunch recently I always try new restaurant openings, I confess that I had been to Tabbs when it was in Portreath and had a great meal. So expectations were high especially as the new Tabbs was so beautifully decked out, contemporary with high backed chairs and elegantly laid tables. There are still a lot of people who go out to eat in Cornwall with a certain expectation for the food to be plentiful and low cost, that? fine if the restaurants policy is to buy at the lower end of the produce spectrum and there are plenty of places to go for that. When however the chef is accomplished, passionate and wants you to be bowled over by intensity and purity of flavour and wowed by presentation, the menu is designed to give a balanced and satisfying meal over three courses. Always letting the top quality of the ingredients speak for themselves, this is what Tabbs is all about! Quality over quantity. I was very impressed by lunch here, from the breads made fresh every morning, the exciting starters to the main of rare breed duck and the house speciality- the desserts. They work very hard at the attention to detail and the fact that NOTHING is bought in no not even the petit fours. Truro is achanging and as the more discerning diners hone in, there is a place for Tabbs as there is for Saffron, Chantek, Stingi and others. Bring it on !

I have to disagree with the previous comments that the food is so so. The new winter menu is fantastic-esp the Moroccan burger! Fantastic meal-glad I found this little gem in Truro. Good atmosphere and bubbly staff. Top notch!

I think this restaurant deserves more credit! Have been there so many times and the staff are very friendly and warm. They tend to serve you as if in Thailand no empty beer bottles or wine glasses to be found. On some occasions there has been a wait on the food but usually this is because of how amazingly busy the one small kitchen is. The staff there always look busy and happy! The food is amazing and such a variety I don? think I've sampled every dish yet! Maybe they should do cards so you can cross off which ones you've had. If you're looking for an outstanding Asian restaurant then this is the place to be in Truro and the quality of food out ranks all it's opposition in this area!

Very Expensive for the quality of food but the service is impeccable! Will go back again and again because good service is hard to find and although the food is so so have a good front of house team is all you need to have a fun night out!

The choice on the menu was fantastic, and the staff were second to none- cheery and fantastic fun. In this bubbly bar/restaurant they cater for everything including my daughter and her hatred for vegetables!! Visit this restaurant-it deserves to do well.

Having been here a few weeks back on a holiday to Cornwall, I just have to write to recommend this restaurant to everyone. This is exactly the type of high quality restaurant we need over here in London. Right from the moment we entered the restaurant we were given a warm welcome, sat down promptly, and our orders taken with the utmost care and given recommendations on what would be best for our tastes. My wife went for the Coriander Lamb (exquisite dish) and myself the Chicken Naga Morris, another dish finely blended for the daredevil, who wants to get their heads blown off. The service itself was topped off by excellent chat and banter with the Manager's brother Onslo who was managing the place whilst he was on holiday. (There did not seem to be a subject which he wasn? able to chat about in great detail). All this before the food had arrived. Excellent presentation and wonderful aromas exciting our senses. Not to forget the great tastes as well. Food itself was above what you would normally pay for a Indian meal, but then again you pay for what you get , and you definitely get your monies worth here. Excellent Decor, Service, Food and Entertainment. I would give this place a 9.5 out of 10. Misses out on 10 because of the oversized menus and plastic sheeting on them. Ignore the bad reviews, definitely one to visit and I will next time I am in Cornwall.

OK restaurant, with OK service and OK food, but it feels rather dated (you can just about read through the plastic covers on the menu !). It is rather pricey for a basic Indian restaurant.
