The Deccan is the best Indian Restaurant we have come across...forget Rusholme.....or anywhere else. Nowhere compares to it. The food is superb and if you don't find anything you fancy (unlikely) they will make you something up. wonderful.

I recently went to this restaurant with the girls from work. The food and service was excellent, the staff were all friendly and welcoming. I had a sizzling tika dish it was gorgeous. My friends said it was the best Indian food they had eaten for a while and would definitely go back.

My partner and I have been going to The Standard every Sunday for a couple of months now - I hadn't been since I was a child but it's fabulous. The staff are really friendly and the food is fantastic. If you fancy something off the menu but slightly different (spicier/milder, different meat etc.) they are more than willing to oblige. They do still give you a free round of drinks - you usually pay for your first round and then they bring you another round on the house - how many restaurants do that??? Quite often if you order a starter without the poppadums, you get them anyway. I can't praise this place enough. It's always busy, which says something, but there's plenty of room and you're not sat on top of each other. My partner can usually get the next nights tea out of the meals - they give you more than enough so we tend to have a doggy bag for him the next night - well it saves me cooking!

I was really disappointed after going for many years. I had a set party menu but chocolate cake wasnt on it - despite having 2 weeks notice and advantage of pre-order they refused to accommodate. They were argumentative when a friend advised there was hair in her food I gave 18 deposits before the night. A couple who had just had a young baby wanted to come but did not wish to pay deposits in case they had to back out last minute. I was advised even though 18 deposists had been submitted, if I included these 2 on the final numbers and they did not attend the restaurant would still subtract £10 extra off the final bill Inflexible and unwilling to accommodate. the food on the party menu was also sub standard. It's a shame as I have been going for years and used to love the place.

after reading various reviews on this site, i decide to treat myself and and members of my family today. unfortunately it did NOT live up to the reviews. the floor was dirty in places and the chairs were of all different types and styles. most of the potatoes were undercooked and so were the vegetables. the meat was passable, the only shining light was the rhubarb crumble pudding.when we pointed these things out, the waiter wasnt really bothered. my advice is think twice about booking a table at this place.

This is the second time i have been to the swinging bridge in a week and not out of choice. The service is ok polite and attentive, the food however was absolutely horrid. Stay away from the chicken ceaser salad an anorexic chicken breast on limp salad leaves, the worst salad i have ever eaten in my life. To make matters worse we went back and i ordered a roast dinner, well it would have been nice if the vegetables were cooked. I wont be going again!!

We eat here regularly and think it's the best tapas restaurant in Manchester. The Gambas Pil Pil (garlic and chilli king prawns)and Pisto Manchengo (smokey flavoured vegetables in tomato) are our particular favourites. Once you've discovered this place, you'll be hooked!

It is hard to describe how great it is to have such a first class restaurant in Urmston. I have eaten here mid-week, weekend and on "specials" such as New Years Eve, and the food has been consistently excellent, the service informed and attentive. The owners have a real commitment to sourcing local produce and have a real passion which comes through in their menu and attention to detail. I truly hope that Isinglass remains the benchmark and goes from strength to strength as Urmston redevelops.

Urmston's prize atrraction. Food is mainly locally sourced and then outstanding things are done to it in what appears to be a tiny kitchen. Now they are open for breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea, I can spend all day there!

My friend and I ate at Isinglass for the first time yesterday, and it definitely won't be the last! The ambience was intimate and the decor unobtrusive. The staff were friendly, the service was impeccable and the food was almost indescribable! I had the peppered steak to start which was delicious and moist and the salmon and prawn paupiette for my main which was cooked to perfection. I admit I was worried that the menu consisted of what I call 'fussy food', but the different flavours blended so perfectly I was desperate for the recipes! We thoroughly enjoyed our meals here and would highly recommend Isinglass to anybody.

Having Clients in from the US and Denmark I was looking to take them to an English restaurant, instead of the usual indian / chinese that they had requested. I stumbled onto the Isinglass through googling for an English restaurant in Manchester. The find was confirmed as a real gem from the moment we walked in through the door to the last spoon full of the ample deserts. This restaurant deserves to succeed as the mix of the old world charm the attentive waiting staff and the outstanding food is a winner. I can see why this establishment is a nomination for Mancheser City life Restaurant of the year 2007. My Clients were highly complimentary about the entire meal and stated that they would certainly like to eat there again.

I have dined here a number of times and can honestly say that every time the food has been exceptional. It is great to go somewhere local that does good quality seasonal food based on ingredients from local suppliers in a relaxed setting. The upstairs private dining room is great for larger parties as you have the space to yourselves and can chat easily in a larger group. Price wise I don't think it is expensive for what you get with starters and deserts around £5 and mains about £13-15 so £25 plus wine (good wine list too from the reasonable at £12 upwards). Highly recommended.

Having visited on a couple of previous occasions and been impressed, I recently organised a party at Isinglass. It was for a special occasion, at very short notice and for a party of 22. The food was fabulous and even though the main meals were brought out in sets of 6 we were all eating at the same time. The other tables were all full and the atmosphere was very enjoyable. The Northern Charcuterie and Cornfed Chicken were favourites amongst our group. The Sticky Toffee Pudding is divine! For a small restaurant I felt they dealt with a large group effectively. I think this is a venue worthy of an intimate meal for 2 or for a party. It is not a cheap night out but if you enjoy good food and wine in a relaxed atmosphere, and don't mind paying for it then give it a try.

A friend and i visited this restaurant due to praising reviews. The food was divine, and the service was good although their was only one waiter serving several tables. We sat in the lounge area above the restaurant whilst waiting for meal to arrive (which was a nice touch!!!)highly recommend to dine here although a little pricey for a Thursday night out for your tea. (two mains and a bottle of wine £50)But would definitely return for a special occasion. Not a place really suitable for larger parties due to the size, but perfect for civilised meal for about four.

I eat at La Torre a lot with my friends and the food is always lovely. Would recommend this restaurant to everyone.

MPR Levenshulme

Myself and my wife travel from Levenshulme to eat in this Tapas Restaurant, which used to be in Stockport. I can honestly say we have not eaten tapas as good as this anywhere, and believe me we have tried them all. Everything is fresh and cooked to order which you can see through the open kitchen, and all at a very modest price.

Great Restaurant. Been many times. It is an oasis in the middle of Urmston. The Food is excellent and the service is top draw. I recommend this to anyone who enjoys excellent british style food cooked with quality ingredients.

My family and I eat here on a regular basis (as do a lot of my friends) and I can honestly say it is well worth a visit. The food is excellent and there is plenty of choice. It is all very fresh and the portions are just the right size. They do a cheap deal between 5pm and 7pm on weekdays but the price is very reasonable anyway.
