I'd been meaning to go ever since I moved to Urmston nearly 3 years ago. Having eaten all over Manchester (and the country) I was extremely impressed with both the service and the food from Isinglass. 2 main courses at 2 drinks came to only £33!!! The portion sizes were enormous and the quality of the organic, locally sourced food was outstanding. The brother and sister run restaurant is simply outstanding! (BTW guys, if you're reading this, it was a pleasure to meet you)

One of the best and most consistent Chinese restaurant's in Manchester. Good atmosphere.

Booked a month age for Xmas day lunch.Popped in 13.00 Xmas eve,to be told extractor in kitchen not working and not going to be fixed in time.Left tel.no.at time of booking..couldn't even be bothered to ring and let us know...could have easily turned up for nothing,with nothing in for lunch at home,and no other restaurant available at short notice.Won't come here again,or recommend to anyone.

This is by far the best Asian food and friendly service in the area. We do try to go 5-6 times per year, but Xmas Eve is a must. we have been having Xmas Eve at the standard for nigh on 10 years now Well done to all at the Standard !!

We have eaten here a number of times and the food has always been excellent and the staff friendly and very helpful. The set lunch is excellent value.

Me and my other half frequented this restaurant, and I have to give it a disappointed thumbs down. The fish cakes where rubbery to the point of inedible, and my char-grilled prawns burnt to the point of stinking my fingers for the following two hours. The decor is much improved from the old greyhound though, and the front of house service is excellent. Shame about the execution of some very simple dishes, made all the more embarrassing by the complete lack of other custom in the restaurant. Don't bother visiting if you are a discerning thai food junkie.

The choice of Thai food was excellent and so was the service. Will definitely go again.

i went to the standard on 25 sept 2010, i was given my starter on a chipped plate and my main meal came with another chipped plate at this point i complained and the waiter just laughed, then my friend asked for the disabled toilet they told him they don't have one, and to my disbelief they took him out side down the side of the restaurant to urinate in an ally way, i told them this was not acceptable they shrugged their shoulders, i have eaten there on many occasions but i do think the standards have gone out of the window, and i will not be going ever again,

Unfortunately this is definitely not a recommendation for the restaurant. We have just returned from a birthday meal for a friend. It was a large party of about 20 people who were advised that the menu for a set fee to include 6 tapas plates. We were happy with this until we realised that the 6 tapas plates received would be between 4 people. In effect, we paid £12.00 per person for just 6 plates of tapas and one small dish of salad (£48.00 pound for 6 plates!). The owners certainly saw us coming and as most were local people who attended, I think they have lost a lot of business. Certainly, we will be telling our friends not to bother. A disappointing end to a good day and staff seemed unconcerned when we complained and left hungry.

I've been 3 times in the last 6 weeks. All meals faultless. Excellent food, fine selection of wine and great service. I'll be back.....

Just got back from a meal for nine (ranging in age from 18 months to 87 years as at 5th Sept 2010) at the Swinging Bridge - fantastic service, polite and friendly staff, great food, brilliant baby-changing facilities. A great advert for North West hospitality.

Just got back from the swinging bridge, served by Lindsey. Was a lovely meal, Lindsey was attentive and nothing was too much trouble. All the staff at the swinging bridge are friendly and as soon as we walked through the door we were greeted by a friendly face. You were right Lindsey the fish was gorgeous! Thank You for everything!

Really good food and a pleasant atmosphere. A wide menu with Thai classics and specials that are less popular, really fresh and delicately prepared. Just over £40 for two courses for two people. We discovered this place by complete fluke - were fed up of the queues and hassle of the Trafford Centre so went for a drive - and struck lucky. Above the pub, the dark wooden tables and beams are contrasted by the light walls and high ceiling, and the light music allows for conversation (often about the food).

I come with my husband and son all the time and they are great with kids and they provide such an atmosphere very relaxed. The food it brilliant, wonderful chefs, and the waitering service is marvellous and they interact with many, if not all the customers!

simply brilliant, great food without fuss, laid back atmosphere, excellent value, friendly staff and understated, you won't be disappointed!

Unfortunately myself and 4 female friends went along, on the back of strong recommendations. We were highly disappointed. It was mid week and we had gone along for the early bird menu, only to discover this didn't exist. All courses fell short of ordinary and excited about a stew in ale 2of us were presented with indigestible lumps of gristle and my 3rd friend had a bowl of no gristle let alone meat, and nowhere was there even a sniff of ale. In fact I do believe the chef had misunderstood lentils for ale?? Perhaps he had a hangover??? I could go on, however when we did say we were not satisfied, we were just met with an apology. Feeling aggrieved , one of our party felt it only fair to raise our disappointment with the owners. Unfortunately this appeared to fall on deaf ears. Not one to complain unnecessarily I find it only right to raise our dissatisfaction for other future clients to get a full story. For one we will not be returning.

Been visiting this restaurant for the past 10 years! Always excellent food & excellent service! Never had a bad meal (always try to try something different) Staff always friendly too! Would highly recommend trying this restaurant - take a ways are fab too with 20% off menu price!! Thanks for the free drinks Mr Mo! :)
