The Three Horseshoes – WakefieldWe regularly have a take away delivered from the Balti House which is always lovely. Best curry we have ever had. Thank you
Balti House – WakefieldMy wife and I dined here on 18 January and the experience was as close to perfect as you could probably get. Many of the reviews on here refer to it being pricey, but you get what you pay for in life. I had the 10oz ribeye steak, my wife chose Barbary duck. Whilst people refer to a 'juicy steak' so often it's become a bit of a cliché, this one actually was! It was a fine example of how a steak ought to be cooked, and the aromas it produced had me salivating before the waiter got the plate to my table. The massively chunky chips were equally good; being both crisp on the outside with an almost candy floss like interior. We pushed the boat out with one of the fine wines and, although we were brought the cheaper version of the Rioja, our waiter had realised this and replaced it before we had chance to tell him. The desserts were just as sumptuous and it was refreshing not to have an overwhelming menu to choose from, though we still took some time to make up our minds. In conclusion: very polite and friendly staff, significantly higher that average food quality went to make up an excellent dining experience. Only (minor) criticism is the lighting which was slightly too low. KEEP DOING WHAT YOU'RE DOING, COWSHED!
Cow Shed Restaurant and Grill – WakefieldTerrible food, excellent service. I hadn't visited the Pagoda for about 12 months and unfortunately this time round found the food to be bland. Its a shame cause I used to rely on this place when I fancied going out for Chinese. However, the service as always was excellent, lets hope they can bring the food up to the same standard.
Pagoda Cantonese Restaurant – WakefieldWe had our office xmas meal at the Cow Shed, although it was a little pricey the food, atmosphere and service was excellent. Its a shame there are only a handful of good restaurants in Wakefield.
Cow Shed Restaurant and Grill – WakefieldThe BEST Indian restaurant in Wakefield. Excellent food and good service. Speak to the waiters for advice on what dish to choose. We go about once every two months and try a different dish every time and have yet to be disappointed in the last 2 years.
Red Chilli II – WakefieldExcellent. Definitely recommend. Although there is not much competition due to the lack of good restaurants in Wakefield this place is great. The food is to die for and is reasonably priced. Give it a try you wont be disappointed.
Thai on the Square – WakefieldAn absolutely amazing restaurant! A menu with a wide range of choice, all made from fresh produce, outstanding service with a friendly face to greet you at the door and serve your table. As far as the selection of wines that are available goes, it is outstanding to see such a small restaurant offering such a great and reasonably priced choice of whites, reds and champagnes. An all round good restaurant!
The Three Houses Inn – WakefieldCompletely changed! Same owners as Spindle Tree in Wakefield which has great reputation for good pub food. We are regulars at the spindle and went along to Darrens new venture, hes got it spot on again. Black Bull menu more geared for families and lovely food again. Service good, food good (as we expected) and lovely pub.
Black Bull – WakefieldGreat food, all homemade and hearty potions. I had homemade Black Bull Steak Pie, cracking! just lovely, my wife had a roast dinner pork & crackling I think. Smashing place, we have now booked every Sunday for our family meal, good prices too! No longer part of the Brewers Fayre chain, private owners now called Black Bull Fayre. Cute touch
Black Bull – WakefieldLovely food, we used to come but the food and service was poor, new owners have turned the place around very very quickly. We ate from the senior citizens menu, lovely scampi & chips, my wife went for fresh fish & chips, it even came with bread & butter! Lovely food, lovely service!
Black Bull – Wakefieldwent for Sunday lunch with family, had a mixture of dishes from their Sunday roast menu and the standard menu. I had a roast meat sharing platter for 4 people! amazing value beef, turkey and pork with crackling! Food lovely, one of the best roast beef dinners I've had in a long time. Kids loved it too. Reasonable prices and great food. New owners running the place much much better. Service great too. Big car park helps too. Couldn't fault the place.
Black Bull – WakefieldGreat pub food! just taken over by new owners so expect great things from this place in the coming weeks. Good menu changes already including really great steak & chips cooked to perfection and excellent fish & chips. Lovely place nice and cosy
Black Bull – WakefieldWe went to the black bull for the 4th Xmas day in a row knowing that the company had changed hands recently. What a disgrace !!! The bottom line is that there were no staff which impacted on service , the standard of food and lack of interest. We had a table booked for 2pm and got there for 1pm for pre dinner drinks . By 3pm we were still waiting for our starters which resulted in literally enough soup to cover the base of the bowl - the same as a childs portion. There were 6 in our party and 4 had finished they're soups by 10 minutes before the other 2 members received they're 2 chicken skewers. We had to ask what was happening 3 times. The meal came and was ok at 4pm 2 and a half hours later, by this time we were completely frustrated and ruined our day - terrible terrible terrible and so disappointing at £200 for a party of 6
Black Bull – WakefieldIt does the best pizzas i've tasted anywhere that I remember. Its also good value for what you get which is often a huge pizza with many toppings served fresh. I too highly recommend Prago to anyone who appreciates good fresh food.
Prego Pizzeria – Wakefieldexcellent food good service and nicely priced with good quality wine at a decent price. a very enjoyable evening. definitely going back soon.
Rustico – WakefieldApparently new owners, made some excellent changes already! New menu which is superb and very reasonably priced. Excellent food and excellent pub!
Black Bull – WakefieldNEW PRIVATE Owners, took over the Black Bull today, open this evening and the food is soooo much better than before. Still serving real pub food but done at a good standard. I had Black Bull burger, 2 8oz Aberdeen Angus burgers made up this monster of a burger, slices of bacon, cheese, onion rings, mushrooms and smothered in BBQ sauce. Excellent will eat their again. Best try it soon as this place is gonna be busy busy busy
