Really really good. The best Thai I've eaten at in years!
Amala Thai – WakefieldI pre-booked a table for four people Saturday evening for my wife and family. We arrived five minutes earlier than the agreed time, and after being assured by the member of staff (possibly the manager) that we would be sat down at our table "in a few minutes" we stood and waited in the middle of the restaurant surrounded by other diners sat eating their meals for another 20 minutes as we watched other parties get seated. We received NO subsequent assurances about getting our pre-arranged table and waited patiently. After 20 minutes of waiting and hearing nothing from the (and I quote from their website 'extremely friendly and attentive') staff apart from getting jostled from side to side as they brushed past us. After waiting patiently for so long with no update on our table despite getting pushed out of the way numerous times by their 'extremely friendly staff' I asked what had happened to our pre-booked table. After asking this we were directed into a room upstairs not to eat, but I presume to drink from their bar upstairs until our pre booked table became available. At no point were we even apologised to or even offered a free drink whilst we kept waiting watching everyone else eat. We got offered a token free garlic bread (that would usually come with the meal anyway) but after waiting even that did not turn up.We gave up waiting in the end and walked out, again no apologies were forthcoming. We found an alternate restaurant a few minutes away that knew how to treat valued customers and we spent the rest of the evening trying to forget the very poor treatment and disregard we experienced in Rusticos. This is a prime example of how a restaurant that becomes too popular forgets the no 1 consideration in the food industry - it's customers. I eat out very regularly and this is perhaps the worst we've ever been treated by a restaurant either in this country, or in other countries we've visited. For a restaurant that states on it's website "Our staff are extremely friendly and attentive and are always willing to attend to any requests you may have" this simply was not demonstrated and we were left feeling undervalued and ignored,. Christmas may be a busy season but if no tables were available they should not have wasted our time in agreeing a booking early that day. Rusticos needs to remember that although Christmas may be group party season now, come the cold winter January/February months after it's customers like us that support restaurants during their quiet months.Quite obviously *not recommended* of course.
Rustico – WakefieldWent to Malagor Fine Thai Cuisine after being recommended from the Holiday Inn where we were staying. Absolutely delighted we went. From the second we entered, the atmosphere was warm and welcoming - the receptionist who I later found out was the owner, organised a table for us despite them being so busy. The decoration is lovely and my wife and I felt really welcome throughout. We had a delicious lamb shank which slightly over faced me (so my wife helped me finish it), and the salmon in ginger. Both were delicious. We couldn't face dessert but the table next to us had mango cheesecake which they seemed to enjoy. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves - not rushed like at so many restaurants. We will certainly return soon.
Malagor Fine Thai Cuisine – Wakefieldjust got back in from Rinaladis, promised a review. What can I say ? absolutely fab night, I work for First Direct, brought my team for a meal, promised it would be worth coming from Leeds for. It was, fab food, fab service, my friend was gluten free. no problem at all. We all so want to go back, I want the anitpasti for 2 !!!. Will be back soon for a cosy meal for 2 with my hubby. Bloody fabulous night !!!
Rinaldis – WakefieldReasonable price for a buffet (all you can eat). Quality of most was very acceptable. if you have an allergy please beware and advise the manager as soon as you walk in as they do not listen if you've started to eat the starter without looking at potential issues with the hotplate main course area (particularly if you have a shell fish allergy).Overall a 6/10
Overpriced average food and a disconcerting air of pretension - distinctly average in all but price and portion.
Kaye Arms, The – WakefieldEaten hear many time - always love it. Great food, great staff. Would highly recommend -Fantastic!!!!!!
Balti House – WakefieldBooked a table last Thursday for Saturday night at 8.00 pm. Arrived early, which was a good thing as parking is very limited. They didn't have my reservation on the list, so was asked to wait at the bar. After about 15 minutes wait we got a table, and were told by the waiter he would fetch the specials board. 10 minutes later I reminded them, we were still waiting for it. Ordered & when the food arrived, it was hot, obviously freshly prepared, and generous portions. Were delighted to see one waiter, Gus, who had been at Bella Roma in Wakefield for many years. He remembered us, and his attention made what hadn't started out too good into a very pleasant night. A couple of little things like the offer of a drink on the house, and, unexpectedly, a plate of fresh fruit at the end of the meal was a nice touch. Think next time we go (and there will be a next time) we'll get a taxi, but overall, for a very busy place, well done Valentinos.
Valentinos Italian Restaurant – WakefieldWe have just discovered Sloanes. What a fantastic place and have already visited it 3 times. The food, service and staff are excellent. Try the steak, it's always cooked to perfection. The staff cannot do enough for you and are really friendly. We recommended it for my sister's work staff party, catering for over 100 people and apparently the food was just as good. Definitely the best Italian in Wakefield.
Sloanes Restaurant – Wakefieldwarm welcome, and excellent food although the service tended to be a little slow at times. Reasonable prices. 8/10
Red Chilli II – WakefieldRinaldis the food is incredible and the wine is to die for best night out I've had in a long time
Rinaldis – WakefieldWe have been going to valentinos since it opened always enjoyed the experience, BUT tonight 3 great meals 1 not good. Be warned to my surprise they do not like complaints, fillet steak with copious amounts of fat. The owner told me " its the LUCK OF THE DRAW" excellent customer service!!!! I can see why we managed to get an 8 o'clock table at the last minute. This place really as gone down hill
Valentinos Italian Restaurant – WakefieldI have been a customer for years and used to go every week in the good old days, but then it turned. Poor service and poor food. BUT good news it's back to it's original state good food good atmosphere and good staff, it's good to see some of the old faces i think Glynn and his missus have done a great job. great to see a local businessman putting it back on the map.
Rinaldis – WakefieldDefinitely the best curry in Wakefield. Staff very attentive and food is divine! large portions and very good quality. Would recommend the cheese and garlic naan - gorgeous, but lethal....
Red Chilli II – Wakefieldpate delicious but at £4 75p for a very small portion plus toast too expensive. Staff helpful
The Red Kite – WakefieldThis The Pagoda in Wakefield, a Chinese Restaurant is the very best we have ever visited, the service is A1, the choice on the menu is extensive, the staff are more than attentive, the surroundings are very oriental as is the background subtle music. The whole package is extremely favourable. There is no surcharge, the food is cooked to a very good standard, the staff are friendly, polite and we feel like one of the family whenever we visit this restaurant, The Pagoda. The fish pond inside the restaurant is a nice touch too. Every time my husband and myself have been, the toilets are ALWAYS pristine clean. We have NEVER had upset stomachs after eating and drinking at this fab place. We feel like one of the family. They have a free car park just outside the place, if it is full, never fear as you can always park in Aldi car park right next to the Pagoda itself, PERFECTO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Pagoda Cantonese Restaurant – WakefieldOne off the best meals we have tried. Been eating Indian for 20 years and we have found Red Chilli one off the best. keep up the good work. See u next year. We came all the way from Jersey.
Red Chilli II – WakefieldHad the complete misfortune to call here for lunch one day...If you are Vegetarian..just forget it! The staff think that being a vegetarian means that you will still eat fish! They did have an old mouldy vegetable kiev lurking about in the freezer that was left from when it was on the old menu..but we declined that kind offer! We settled for mushroom soup which didn't taste of mushrooms at all but of bovril!,,then apple and blackberry crumble which was served upside down...we weren't sure if they were trying to do things differently here..but I don't think we were that lucky..they just couldn't be bothered to get it on the dish the right way up! The coke we had to drink was flat!..and we wondered why the carpark was empty! NEVER AGAIN!
Black Bull – Wakefield
