This is the place to go when you want to re capture the memory of THAT holiday in the sun. It was a cold rainy day when I walked in to this restaurant. Inside it was warm, cosy, welcoming, clean (and that was only the porch!) I only had £15 in my purse and looking at the menu in the window knew that I would have enough for a Psiton. (£12.95) I was greeted like a long lost friend and escorted to a table. Having placed my order, I didn't have long to wait before my food arrived. My heart sank as the PLATES arrived:a basket of fresh bread, a large bowl of salad with , enough veg for 10 a day, a dish of tasty rice, and the main dish: an enormous piece of lamb, beautifully cooked. with, among other things, 3 very large potatoes. I am NOT a potato person but oh boy! these were crisp on the outside and soft and fluffy inside. (HOW DO THEY COOK THEM LIKE THIS?) When I had devoured all before me the waiter brought a small plate of mixed fresh fruit. From time to time, various waiters would discreetly enquire if everything was to my satisfaction, and d'you know what? they asked as if they genuinely cared. The moment of truth when my bill came. The weary cynic expected there to be extras added ; the fruit, the veg, but the surprise; my bill was exactly as it should have been: £12.95! I came away just knowing that Christakis is going to be a regular eating place for me and my friends. If you'd like to find the equivalent of the American Cheers bar, but in Liverpool, go pay a visit to Christakis. I promise, you won't be disappointed. Sylviebee

I can not recommend the new Christakis restaurant on Smithdown road highly enough, we have just returned home from the most beautiful traditional Greek/Cypriot meal and I felt the need to share this gorgeous find immediately. The food was absolutely delicious and coupled with a warm family welcome and amazing attentive service. The restaurant has only been open a couple of weeks but seems to be popular already and after experiencing it I now understand why and will definitely be back soon. Well done Christakis and thank you for opening our new favourite restaurant.

Rubbish with a big r, terrible service although the waiting on staff are very nice (doing their job) service very very slow. Went there before a night out, overcharged left with a overpriced starter and a few drinks would never recommend this place or go there again, as a family we eat at the Chester branch a few times a month which has a perfect service, food and staff,Wavertree very unorganised the tables around us had the wrong food brought out before we even had ours i wouldn't even want a voucher to eat there again id rather go over the road to mcdonalds, i don't care if you show this review word of mouth all the way...,,,,,

The best Indian Restaurant in the North West possibly the UK. The hot chili sauce for the poppadoms is simply amazing along with the onion bahji and lemon/mint sauce. My all time favourite dish has got to be the Hot Buttered Chicken, mouth watering. I have been coming to The Royal Tandoori for 20 years and I have never found better!

A lovely experience, run by Selam who cooks everything fresh and all very ethnic; simple, good food that is different from anything else you'll have had before. Food all served on Njeera (sour dough pancakes) and eaten by hand; a lovely peaceful coffee ritual and Selam a lovely warm welcoming woman; inexpensive too

I have tried a variety of the dishes at Selam Cafe and they have all been delicious! The freshly cooked injera are a real treat with the different spiced sauces. Good selection of vegetarian and vegan food. The coffee ceremony is a must, the coffee is made from scratch in front of you and tastes amazing. This place is well worth a visit.

Went to Jalons for my birthday on Saturday 26th March 2011. It was BRILLIANT! I haven't eaten anywhere which has made me stand up and take notice for a very long time, but Jalons did just that! The food was FAB - all four starters (I couldn't resist trying a bit of everything) were delicious and then the steak was to die for. That with the amazing chips and lovely wine would have been enough, but then there was the ambient atmosphere provided by the pianist (who even took requests from my sozzled, over-sentimental husband) and a reasonable price to boot! A fab night out, Jalons has shot to the top of my dining out pop parade!

My mum came to visit on Friday, i wanted to take her somewhere up market with good food a nice atmosphere and my did Jalons tick all of the boxes. The food was fresh well presented and overall just scrumptious. The atmosphere with Paul Brookes (i think that was the guy playing the piano's name) was delightful.Ten out of ten for service . i would definitely recommend this restaurant and will be returning g as a treat in the future..

9 of us went to the Tavern last Saturday. Atmosphere was buzzing i felt like i was in a restaurant somewhere in New York. The food was fab, we weren't rushed or kept waiting. One of the staff did shout then not so delicately place the food on the table which was a little abrupt. The toilets could have been cleaner however they rang to confirm booking, which i think is a lovely extra, on the day and overall it was a lovely night out.
