We've not been to the Magpie for quite a while and we couldn't come to Whitby again without revisiting and it didn't disappoint. Still our favourite fish and chips.

Meal for 6, first ever visit, food & service both superb. Only downfall was location of our table, right next to kitchen & the pay point so alot of hustle bustle near us. Would be nice if lights were lower too to create abit of an ambience. But all our meals were spot on. Seafood very fresh. Superb.

Been coming to magpie for years. Menu grown and food really fantastic as always. Wine list great and loos post fire refurbishment are of much higher standard. Service very friendly. Only criticism is tables pushed too close together and pretty much rushed through although food deserved longer. Don’t get greedy Magpie , your food and higher paying customers deserve longer !

It was really busy here but felt looked after. The food itself is as good as you've probably heard but the service was great. Girls who served me were lovely. Will come again next time I'm in Whitby.

We had an excellent evening at Magpie Cafe on Sunday 8th August. My husband and I shared a starter of Mussels, they were do delicious and a very generous portion for a starter. Following this we both opted for the cod and chips as we had very much been looking forward to this as we planned our holiday to Whitby. We were not disappointed, the cod was really well cooked and was so tasty - it also just fell apart, along with a good portion of chips, peas and bread & butter we were definitely very well fed. We recommend the restaurant to anyone looking for a good fish and chip restaurant experience. Our waitress was also really good, patient, helpful and friendly, a real credit to Magpie Cafe ( I think she was called Carol?). The restaurant was busy but Covid was very much at the forefront of the restaurant layout and we felt very safe.

I have been coming to The Magpie for 46 years it although the menu has changed over time, it gets better and better - and it was a favourite of mine when I first visited in 1975, and remains so. Food superb, pleasant surroundings and fabulous, friendly and efficient staff. What more could you possibly ask?

For the last 6 years we have travelled from Northern Ireland to Yorkshire, and our favourite place to eat is The Magpie Cafe in Whitby. It never disappoints. The food and service is always of high quality, each year I wonder will we still enjoy the meal as much and each year it exceeds our expectations. When we reserved the table we requested a window seat, our request was met. Excellent service, delicious food, amazing staff. Despite being busy the staff still had smiles on their faces and couldn’t have been more helpful, and checked to make sure we were happy with everything. High standard of cleanliness. Tables well laid out, fulfilled all current covid restrictions. Kids meal was excellent value for money. Portions are huge, we’ve learned from past experience to share the starters if you want room to finish your main course. I can’t recommend it enough. Looking forward to next year already.

The restaurant was busy but the staff were friendly and efficient. The food was good. My husband had the mackerel from the specials board and says it was the best mackerel he's ever tasted. Would love to try your fish and chips one day!

Fantastic meal and great service. We always travel to Whitby once a year to have some of the delicious seafood on the menu at the Magpie Cafe. We have recently added to our family and with a new toddler in tow meal times can be stressful but the waiting staff were amazing, calm and nothing was too much bother! Highly recommend eating here.

Started with the crispy calimari, which we shared and was very good the dip with it was lovely. We both had thr Paella ,which was superb, plenty of seafoods in it,though on a personal note think clams are a waste of time and the pea shoots went really well and with it. Didn't have a sweet too full.

Dissapointing! i have booked this restaurant well in advanced ( about 2 months) and was looking forward that meal just to find out that getting takeaway would have been better, they put us in a corner in front of the cashier where everyone went by,, i could see the kitchen messed and the trolley for cleaning the tables was just on the corridor but to top it up the manager on that shift was speaking loud on how pissed of customers make her and how much she had enough. What was the point to booked well in advance? Customers where taking up the stairs the baggies (hazard) Food was not that great as i had read previous reviews, i can say it a stander fish and chips. If you are looking for a nice evening THIS IS NOT THE PLACE!
