We've tried them all, again and again, but every time we go back to The Magpie, they really are the best. World renowned chefs say they make the best fish and chips in the world, and they do. Coupled with fabulous service and a very extensive menu for non-fish lovers, vegetarians and pudding lovers.

Outstanding food and attentive service. Highly recommend the mussels, as well as the Eton mess. Magpie certainly don't skimp out on accompaniments either. Excellent samphire, chips, salad and bread rolls. Only complaint is that I couldn't sample everything on the menu. We'll be back soon.

We love the magpie cafe and go every year for a treat at Christmas time. Fantastic service every time from the wonderful staff and the best fish and chips you can get. Highly recommend as the best place to eat in Whitby!

We visited the Magpie Cafe for dinner on our first night in Whitby and enjoyed it enough that we had to return for lunch the next day.

We visited this place on Saturday, queued for about 20 mins for probably the nicest freshest fish and chips we have ever had, huge portions and the staff were so efficient, polite and couldn't do enough for us. The place certainly lives up to its great reputation, very well done guys, we will be back. x

Dropped in with the children for cake and hot chocolate after a bracing walk on the beach. The "hot" chocolate looked like the contents of my septic tank and tasted of nothing. My kids normally eat anything with sugar in, so I was surprised when they didn't eat the custard as it "tastes like chlorine" and the "hot" chocolate fudge cake was like the sort of absorbent dressing used to pack a discharging septic wound. The banoffee pie consisted of stale crushed biscuit and about 4mm of slight sweet mucus. The squirty cream and fresh banana was the only thing edible. The Maggpie down the road has deserts for the same price so I kicked myself for giving thsi place a try.

The Fishermans Wife – Whitby
Fish And Chip Maniac

Forget anywhere else in whitby for fish and chips.the food is great, the decor smart and the staff pleasant.scenic views and crisp decor.the food is just as good as the black and white place where you queue or the tiffany toilet star across from the station.

I often visited the restaurant when it was called Graveleys and was very impressed. I would like to know if you still have same staff and chefs and menu. Also do you honour the 2 for one graveleys special vouchers which are valid untill march 2013 ?

been coming to your restaurant for at least 15yrs. This time we were disappointed @ the quality of the chips. When I saw bags of preprepared chips that told me everything definitely a backward step.

Mister Chips – Whitby

We recently visited Whitby for a day during our week's holiday and had our lunch in your restaurant. The fish and chip special that we had was superb with the lightest, crispest batter that we have tasted in years. The chips and mushy peas were also of the highest standard. The waitress was friendly and efficient and overall the experience was exceptional. Thank you
