Buraq – WiganWe took our family to Rigalettos to celebrate our Golden Wedding Anniversary. We were greeted by very pleasant staff, shown to a very comfortable bar for pre-dinner drinks, given Menus to study at our leisure then when we were ready shown to our table that was beautifully set out. The food we all chose was excellent the wine was also excellent infact the whole evening was perfect and enjoyed by our party of 12 people. It was a night to remember thanks to Tino and his lovely Staff
Rigalettos – WiganWhat a little gem this is. The Veggie and Vegan selection is fantastic and created by people who know how to be creative with the ingredients. It's worth a trip to Wigan simply to pop in.
The Coven – WiganHi Luvs, taking the lads to Taybarns with it being all you can eat they fill their self up for the day
Wigan Taybarns – WiganVery disappointing on our last visit we have eaten here before and enjoyed it however on our last visit the service was appalling. the waiter had virtually no knowledge of the menu and kept having to leave to ask questions in the kitchen. When the meal did come the veg was different from what was ordered and sauces were no served at all. the food was mediocre all in all I would NOT recommend
Rigbye Arms Country Inn and Bistro – Wiganwent for a meal on 2nd of may 2011 had to wait half an hour to get a table,so was hoping for some good food and what a let down it was, nachos for 2 to start with but needed a magnifying glass 2 see the cheese on top, then we had steak and duck main course steak was o.k. came with Caesar salad chips you don't get any veg, the duck again OK the skin not crispy which is nice when u have duck some salad and burned roast potatoes which it came with had to ask for hoisin sauce which they forgot wish i had not bothered because it was not nice at all, but wait i can recommend the garlic bread with cheese best part of the meal. I would say do not waste your money cost £35.00 ive had much better meals on a two for £10.00 deal would never go again.
Wiggin Tree – WiganA very disappointing 'Mothers Day' meal at the Rigbye. The staff were clueless, they ran out of dessert options and absolutely no facilities for the disabled. My 82 year old mother was forced to stand in the bar area on two walking sticks for 15 mins before we requested a passing waiter somewhere were she could sit down whilst our table was still being cleared. This very young and inexperienced waiter suggested a 3 and half foot high bar stool!!!!! need I say more! sorry but lacking in descent and friendly service and hospitality - I am still waiting for my letter of apology . The Rigbye used to such a fine dining experience until the 'minimum wage' was thrust upon it - staff appeared 'detatched' from its' customers on Mothers Day. We won't be returning under the current management structure. There are so many more nicer more welcoming places. To be this bad on a special day for families is unforgiving!!
Rigbye Arms Country Inn and Bistro – WiganI'm vegan and normally it's hard to find places that know what vegan is, let alone cater for me. although this is a nice exception. I just asked what was vegan and they came up with loads of suggestions of food that they could prepare for me with no fuss and no awkwardness. Friendly, clean atmosphere and inexpensive, great food! well worth the visit.
Hindley Cafe – WiganFantastic new large restaurant in the center of Wigan. Beautiful decor and an extensive menu. The quality of food matched the brilliant service. I'll definitely be going back soon and highly recommend the place.
Simply Thai – WiganI have been going to the owls for well over 15 years and have always enjoyed the meals both in the restaurant and the other side for bar meals. The bar meals were excellent and value for money however since it has been refurbished the meals have increased in price and decreased in quality. There is not as much choice just fish and pies. Fish and chips was £7.95 and when we asked the waitress where was the peas she said we had to order them seperately. We waited 45 minutes for our meals, this was due to having waitress service that takes your order at your table. We asked for two seperate bills and when we went to pay it was charged all on one bill. We informed the waitress that we wanted to pay seperately and she said can't do that because you would not get your meals together. Not a nice experience at all. We will not be going back.
The Owls At Standish – WiganI've been going to the owls for around four years and always have the same meal. i was really disappointed when i found that the menu has been changed and reduced, as the meal i have is no longer on there and there is not a great deal to choose from now. A lot of people i know have the same so while the menu is as it is i will not be going.
The Owls At Standish – WiganMy husband and I dined at the Charnley Arms for our 5 year wedding anniversary on 28/01/2011 and thoroughly enjoyed our evening.
Charnley Arms – Wiganfantastic people, fantastic food. good price. all home made whats not to like? 5*'s
The Coven – Wiganme and my mum visit the white lion EVERY weekend without fail! it is our favourite place to eat out. a brilliant menu of traditional meals and also more exotic dishes, i have never had a bad meal there! the service is excellent, the atmosphere is great and the location and settings are beautiful! i would highly recommend the lancashire salad (with blue cheese and black pudding), the antipasti (a sharer for two) and the ploughmans washed down with their pino grigio white wine!! brilliant!
White Lion – WiganI recently visited the wayfarer this January, having not been here for a couple of years. I was surprised to find that there was also a Italian restaurant as well as the a la carte and pub area. i was bamboozled with which of the extensive menus to order from. A very polite young girl informed me that if we sat in the bar we could eat from all the menus, which pleased us all as we wanted different things. My son is a celiac and i was very impressed when i was told that they cater for celiacs and even had gluten free pasta! Something that many establishments do not take into consideration. I thought id try the "Famous wayfarer fish&chips" And it lived up to its name undoubtedly one of the nicest pieces of fish i've ever had, with homemade chips and mushy peas YUM! My wife wanted to try the seabass dish, which again was perfectly cooked and accompanied with a tasty potato cake and delicious cream sauce( may i add that the fillet was generous in size) My daughter loves her steaks and every time we go out to eat without fail she'll always order one. She was torn between the ribeye and the fillet and decided on the 10 oz Ribeye. She was not disappointed, she asked for it medium rare and it was cooked perfectly to her liking, tender and packed with flavour, served with hand cut chips, fresh seasonal veg and pepper sauce. We were all pretty full, but after the excellent mains we couldn't resist trying a couple of the homemade sweets to share. The sticky toffee pudding (a favourite of mine) was beautiful, but that was blown out of the water by the chefs lemon meringue pie. It was amazing, well worth the 10 minute waiting time for it to be freshly baked and the presentation was like a piece of artwork. After a few years of not visiting the wayfarer I'm glad we came back. As good, if not better than before! With more choice and friendly helpful staff. We will returning again soon! Highly recommended
Wayfarer Restaurant – Wiganwe visited the owles on 22/1/2011 the food was very good but the service was terrible we were told the wait was 20 mins we waited 40mins we were told our table was ready but we were not shown were the table was we had to ask another member of staff were our table about so we could go sit down for our meals
The Owls At Standish – WiganI knew that the Wayfarer was good from what friends had told me but it was even better than I expected. Each course was delicious and the lemon meringue pie to finish was gorgeous!
Wayfarer Restaurant – Wiganthis place is great, very spacious if you have a wheelchair or pram, the hot and sour soup is a must. Don't be put of by the expensive decor, this place is great value for money
Shanghai Palace Restaurant – WiganAny pizza or pasta £7.95 on Mondays.
