Fabulous food. The service was excellent and I would certainly recommend it to anyone. It made our trip to The Lakes special.
Postilion Restaurant – Windermere
The beautiful South Lakes towns of Windermere and Bowness both sit on the shore of Lake Windermere, where you will find a delightful range of tea rooms, hotels and restaurants. At Lake Windermere you will find a wide range of watersports, or you can just relax and watch the wildlife.
Fabulous food. The service was excellent and I would certainly recommend it to anyone. It made our trip to The Lakes special.
Postilion Restaurant – WindermereWe went for dinner here and have to say it was fabulous ... really, really friendly and although I am trying to lose some weight for my daughter's forthcoming wedding I just could not resist one of there puddings ... to die for !!!!
Francine’s Restaurant and Coffee House – WindermereAn excellent lunch(and a delightful stay) marred by the fact that we were the only guests here. With the staff out-numbering you by at least 5/1 it makes for an eerie time. Fair play though, the food was top drawer and the views stunning.
The Samling – WindermereThe history of the building has most of the interest along with the construction of the restaurant. After selling the Windermere Hydro Hotel 1956, Charles Suiter Sutherland leased the sixteenth century building from the Patterson family and began to remove what had been the military phone centre covering the Sunderland Flying boat construction on the lake during WW2. It took almost a year to clear out the place and cut doors through the eight foot thick stone centre wall. The fireplaces, one being an Adam, were collected from the castle being covered by the rising waters of Hawes Water. The front windows are five hundred years old with some actual first glass inserts. The place was sold in 1960 and has gone through several structural changes over the years.
Sutherlands – WindermereFantastic upmarket B+B!
The Howbeck – WindermereThe food was absolutely excellent. Cannot fault a thing. Its not cheap but its also not the most expensive place I've been to and you definitely get what you pay for.
Golden Mountain – WindermereAfter a super night out on the town, we ended up wanting what most people do at that time of night, eat a curry, and that we did, and what a beautiful curry it was, thanks emperor, you are the best.
Shahibs – WindermereGreat Family Pub in the heart of Bowness
The Village Inn – WindermereWe went for a Saturday evening, and had ordered Lobster Thermadore in advance (24 hours notice needed for Lobster). The ambience was lovely (we'd previously been for a lunch which was wonderful, and it was great to see how the place had been dressed for the evening - completely transformed). The menu had a fabulous selection of tempting dishes for all three courses, and an amuse bouche was also served - lovely surprise. We couldn't fault anything, from outstanding food to spot-on service. We chose crab risotto, followed by the lobster followed by the best creme brulee in the world, and I should know, I've had a few! Francine is in complete control at front of house, and husband Graeme is the very talented chef. This restaurant is an absolute jewel. Hope it continues to prosper. Although I've marked our bill cost as average, we actually expected to pay more, as the standard here is very high. Graeme adds lots of little extras to his dishes and presents them in a very unpretentious way, which really make a difference. We'll definitely be returning.
Francine’s Restaurant and Coffee House – WindermereWe ate here New Year 2006, delightful, cosy feel. Had pre-drinks downstairs next to a roaring fire, then went upstairs to eat. Excellent service and delicious food (lots of choice). Thought it would be pricier than it was. Highly recommend a visit.
Spinnery Restaurant – WindermereCame across by accident by will go back every time in Bowness. Lovely views from outside and nicely furnished inside. Great menu all freshly made. The pasta was excellent very well worth a visit Will stay overnight next time to enjoy
Angel Inn – Windermerei recommend the land lords line caught Witby cod in beer batter, the best i have ever tasted and good value for money. it was actually caught by the pubs own land lord Mr Paul Ainsworth
Queens Hotel – WindermereWhat a wonderful end to our holiday. Stumbled across the Angel Inn by accident. Sat outside on the terrace and had a lovely meal with my wife and two young boys. All the food was freshly cooked and well presented on the plates. Best looking and most tasty fish and chips I've had in a long time and my boys couldn't get enough of the chicken goujons. Inside the inn was even more impressive with cosy lounging areas and a modern dining area and bar. Service was very good and staff friendly. Would even consider staying there. Recommend it to anyone wanting something more than pub grub.
Angel Inn – WindermereWe were surprised to find a contempory style pub in Windermere. The Angel is perched on the side of a hill in the town centre. The great Al Fresco area affords pleasant views and the interior has a modern city bar feel but still retains the rustic touches you'd expect in the Lakes. The food is pub style but with more of a fine dining approach to presentation. Give it a go!
Angel Inn – WindermereJintana Thai is a little gem in the middle of Bowness that we discovered a few months ago. It serves traditional Thai food and has a delicious menu as well as nightly specials with lots of seafood. The decor is as impressive as the food with detail even down to the cutlery and beautiful decorations on every wall. No trip to the lakes should be made without a meal here and we certainly visit at least once every time we visit Bowness.
Jintana Thai – WindermereI enjoyed my visit to the Lake District very enjoyable, there was lots of lovely cafe's and restaurants. But i thought that the Brambles Tea room in Windermere was very lovely, it had lovely food, service and an ideal location.
Brambles Coffee Bar – WindermereClassy four-star hotel with a fantastic lakeside setting. There's a fine dining restaurant and a brasserie and we opted for the latter with it being a hot summer's day. Imaginative menu. If the weather is good, don't miss out on a drink on the terrace.
Lakeside Hotel – WindermereOne of the best places I have been to! Stunning views of Lake Windermere with food and service to match!
