we have been to oilys a few time over the last 12 months the food and service is outstanding staff are very polite and well dressed young waiter taking orders very polite and helpful prices are very good for what you get if you are looking for somewhere to eat oilys is the place 10 out 0f 10

enjoyed a very tasty and filling lunch at Oilys. This place is very successful and rightly so. Professional standards and friendly service means happy customers!

Great food but no atmosphere and the staff were miserable. Probably wouldn't go back, which is a shame as great food

I recently went to Oily's to celebrate my birthday with a small group of friends. I am a lover of their food myself, as I go there at least once a month. Although only one of my friends had only been once, they vowed they would eat there again as they loved the food and the service was excellent. I can also say Oily's is a family friendly restaurant with a menu that is very good value for money.

Six of us went for dinner last week. All of us ordered different meals. All were fabulous. The food was presented well and tasted great. The staff was friendly, patient and efficient. There was one area of concern - when we got the bill we thought it should have been more!! Highly recommended

I have been twice for a meal while on holiday in the last 2 months.Both times we waited at least 20minutes for someone to take our order and in the end had to ask.On 14th August 7 of us went for lunch.It can only be described as average or below and when we asked for a sweet menu at 2.15pm we were told they closed at 3pm so we didn't bother.Can't recommend it and will not go again.

The Briery is a brilliant restaurant to go to!! The service is fantastic with the manageress being really helpful!! The food is superb, really reasonable prices and really yummy!!! I always go there for a meal out!!!!

Fine food and good atmosphere at reasonable prices. Ample parking in a lovely setting. would definitely visit again !

We held our annual Christmas party for the second time in December. The food was superb, service excellent and we received a warm welcome. we were a party of 36 and I have not heard one bad comment. Following our meal entertainment was provided and a great time was had by all. The manager was pleasant and accommodating and joined in our fun. We have booked our place for next Christmas. Unbeatable !!!

while at the briery for my Christmas party i was so impressed how they served 30 people so promptly and efficiently and the food was hot and delicious and yummy i can truly recommend the roast dinner and the pate was to die for cant wait to go again the manager margaret was very helpful and made sure our party went smoothly thank you very much what a good team

visited 2 months ago - food took ages then it was cold and the order was wrong, staff were pleasant enough - would recommend the royal george for better food and not as tatty decor.

I recently took a party of 32 people for a birthday celebration on a sunday lunchtime. We had pre-ordered our food from 3 different menus as we had a number of people travelling after the meal. The food was of an excellent standard, service was excellent but not intrusive. The team there took care of the birthday cake, offering to cut it and serve it, whatever we wanted them to do. I cannot commend them highly enough. Many of our party were local and vowed to return for another meal. I shall certainly be going there again

I went to Oilys with friends on a Saturday night, the place itself is really nice but that's as far as it goes. Each time we went to the bar and bought the same round of drinks the prices we different every time, when we questioned this we were met with an arrogant reply from the lady owner. When the food was brought out late there were no apologies, it was cold and undercooked, the chicken was raw inside and when it was returned to the table it was the same chicken but microwaved. At the end of the night one of the "chefs" came from behind the bar and accused us of stealing an candle stick holder, i'm sure if was a male customer he would not have been so rude. Don't eat here.....ever!!!!

I visited oilys at the weekend with my family for a pre-christmas get together, and Christmas meal and must say the food and presentation were exemplary. the service was very good even though the restaurant was very busy and the amplifier of the place was very relaxing. we did not have to wait for our meal. the staff serving use were very competent well groomed and polite. i would recommend a visit to Oilys. and give it *****

I have been going too Oilys sins it reopened on the 25TH JUNE 2008 meal's are excellent I have been in the last few week's I must say that the meal's are wonderful and everyone must go and try it? me & my friend is going ON the 13th DECEMBER for christmas lunch we are looking forward in going because the meal's are wonderful

MYSELF AND MY HUSBAND TRAVELLED FROM SUNDERLAND TYNE AND WEAR TO PURCHASE A CAR FRON VW FOR OUR SON. THE SALESMAN AT VW RECOMMENDED TRYING OILYS FOR LUNCH, WE ARE SO PLEASED WE NEED TO RETURN TO COLLECT THE CAR AS IT IS THE PERFECT EXCUSE TO DINE AGAIN IN THIS FANTASTIC ESTABLISHMENT. WE WERE GREETED BY TWO MEMBERS OF STAFF WHO WERE BOTH VERY POLITE OUR ORDER WAS TAKEN AND I WAS A LITTLE WARY AS THE PRICES WERE QUITE CHEAP HOWEVER THE FOOD WAS OUT OF THIS WORLD I ORDERED LASAGNE WHICH HALF OF WHICH MY HUSBAND STOLE AND HE HAD SCAMPI WITH PROPER CHIPS. WE ASKED TO COMPLIMENT THE CHEF WHO CAME TO SPEAK TO US, HE SHOWED THE EVENING MENU (WHICH WE WILL BE SAMPLING) AND WHEN HE FOUND OUT ABOUT HOW FAR WE HAD TRAVELLED HE MADE US A BEAUTIFULL BEEF BAGETTE TO TRAVEL HOME WITH. WE CAN RECOMMEND THIS AS BEAUTIFUL HOME COOKED FOOD FANTASTIC CUSTOMER CARE THE ONLY COMPLAINT IS THE 200 ROUND MILE TRIP WE WILL HAVE TO MAKE, BUT WE WILL.

I’ve been there a few times with my girlfriend and even organised my parent's ruby anniversary there. I don't have a bad thing to say about the place, every time the staff have bent over backwards to do their best and even though I personally haven’t had any delays in service I’ve heard that a couple friends of mine who did have to wait a little (10 mins max on this one occasion) didn't mind because the food definitely made up for it. The people I’ve spoken to all say its a massive improvement on what it used to be and for me, after many times of going to another well known place near McDonald's in Workington and being squashed together on a Saturday night, Oily's the only place I would take a date to eat at. Overall, good service, plenty of parking space, great food & low cost! (Especially on a Sunday --> 3 courses for less that £10!) My one recommendation is make a reservation earlier on in the week (or a week before that) for an evening meal because this is a very popular place!
