Went to Mr Kong's on Saturday 18th Aug. My wife was sat next to a large stack of chairs, and because it was full we were unable to be re-seated elsewhere. We plumped for a set menu as we both liked what was on it. We started with crab and sweetcorn slime(soup). Then prawn toast and pancake roles which came with Worcestershire sauce, not one of the better known inventions of the Chinese I must admit I thought it would have been soy sauce but they you go. The duck and pancakes was just OK apart from the duck was dry and the cucumber had been left out all day and was dry. The main course was Beef in Oyster sauce and Sweet and Sour Pork. The Beef was Rubbery (Not a Chinese joke it was Rubbery). The Pork had no taste and was rock hard and dry. The special rice was very special I would think the prawns in it were a few days old because their taste was so strong it was inedible. After complaining they graciously deducted the service charge which they charge whether you want to leave a tip or not. I do not recommend this restaurant and if I was able to leave a "No Star Rating" I would but I suppose the food was hot. DO NOT GO HERE.

As per one of the other reviews Ive seen, the food is worth going for , the toilets should be avoided (one out of order the other I didn? want to touch). Starters, Crispy duck and all the main courses I ordered arrived promptly, although my bottle of water had to chased. The food was tasty and the cost acceptable. Would go again (after popping somewhere else first to use a toilet)

If you are a big fan of Chinese food, chance's are you'll love Mr Kong. It has a great menu. I've been going there for 15 years. Great starters, great crispy aromatic duck, great noodles, great main courses, excellent specials. Good, quick and friendly service. The meals are great value. The restaurant has lots of character. Booking in advance is recommended. Good for large-ish groups (9 - 11 can fit around their big round tables).
