My wife and I came across this bistro by accident ,on a Sunday lunch time. We were very warmly welcomed by staff and locals. The food was very good, not the usual canteen type ,served in so many places , the food and service providing first class value., we would, and will recommend it and be returning.

Booked a table for two for Sunday Lunch today. Arrived at the beautifully presented restaurant, shown into the bar for drinks. Ordered spinach/mushroom tart and calamari for starters and roast lamb for main course. Crepe with Kirsch and cherries for pudding. All excellent will certainly go again. Lovely!

Purchased a "We Love Local" voucher for a meal at this restaurant. Comprising - Starter, Main course and Glass of Wine for two people. We live over 1 hour away so decided to make a day of it with a visit to the RAF Museum at Cosford then travel up to Stowe-by-Chartley. We were not disappointed. We were warmly welcomed and had a pre-dinner drink. The food was excellent, the wine good and we ordered desserts and coffee as well. Will put ourselves out again for this excellent restaurant.

Called in to night after seeing signs on the main road. Wanted to see menus which one was given and informed that it was not the usual one. Hospitality nil and felt we were in a dentists surgery rather than a restaurant .We really liked the look of the place and would have certainly been back to eat. Spoke to another diner who said the food was great but the welcome didnt exsist.Very uncomfortable feeling for strangers, perhaps a one off night but I dont think so

We had our second visit to this lovely little pub today when we took two friends. We had a superb meal and the atmosphere was great and the staff friendly. We arrived just before opening time but they welcomed us in and made us coffee. We and our friends will definitely be returning. T and T Derby

Whilst travelling back from Wales to Norwich we found this 'gem' What a pleasant experience - wonderful food, a warmth from the friendly staff, clean, all round - a brilliant atmosphere in all respect. I WISH THEY WOULD OPEN A BRANCH IN NORWICH!
whenever we get the opportunity we will visit - whats more its not too far from Derbyshire where we visit often.

Planned a meal with my parents on 3rd April 2010. The restaurant was full of the hunting set who had clearly been drinking all day. They were rude, obnoxious and repugnant individuals who made other diners feel most unwelcome. The food is good but never go when the farmers are in town. We won't be returning.

I booked a table for 6 people for a meal to dine at 8pm on Thursday 21st Jan 2010 and I must say how delighted we all were. We were greeted and made to feel welcome, there was no rush and we sat in the bar whilst we decided what we all wanted to eat from a menu which I am sure had something for any taste. We all enjoyed our meal and we are used to dining in the best restaurants. The service, presentation of the food, and quality and taste of the meals were 1st class. We will all be returning as we feel Bistro Le Coq is the best restaurant in the area and we had a wonderful evening What more can we ask for? nothing, thank you.

Finally found a great place to eat on Christmas day, the fish starter was the best we have ever had, the meal was really good, as always, and the friendly service from John and his staff made the occasion really memorable.

Great food, service and drinks. Very much recommended. I've finally found a decent restaurant near to Stafford
