The Waggon & Horses at Matley is a warm and friendly family-run local with an emphasis on good, home-cooked food. It's situated at the top of what's known locally as the deep cutting, on the Mottram road between Stalybridge and Glossop. Originally built in 1663 as a farmhouse, it's been a tavern since 1789 and was first known as the Sandmill Inn. Today it has a separate restaurant and bar area with a choice of a la carte dining, bar meals and daily specials from a head chef with 30 years' experience. The Waggon & Horses can also cater for small parties and functions.
