The Crofters Tavern sits on a prime site on the A6 at Cabus, midway between Preston and Lancaster and close to the historic market town of Garstang. Once a truck stop, the pub and adjoining 25-room hotel were built in 1992 and the spacious and busy venue serves traditional home-cooked food seven days a week right through from noon until.9.30pm. It has a traditional feel with lots of dark woods, nooks and crannies and a red and cream colour scheme. The menu and specials board offer plenty of choice including grills, pasta, seafood, pub favourites and sandwiches and wraps. Try the Chicken Nearly Kiev which is prepared by Ukrainian chef Jack from Slupsk, which is about as close to Kiev as you can get. The Crofters is also popular for afternoon tea which is served form 2pm-5pm. There are regular jazz and psychic evenings and for functions, the Crofters Hotel next door can cater for up to 350 people.

Call for dates This has been recently sold. The new owners have spent a small fortune on decor, the food was excellent, it still looks a bit grim from the outside ! I',m sure they will sort that soon, We were the only party in the restaurant, but the pub part looked pretty busy. lodlupton
