Dating back to the 18th century, The Derby Arms at Thornley enjoys a wonderful setting at the gateway to the Trough of Bowland, in-between Longridge and Chipping. It’s recently been taken over and completely refurbished by the award-winning Seafood Pub Company and features a central bar leading into three separate dining rooms. There’s also a tap room with bar games, an al fresco area and six bedrooms for guests that fancy an overnight stay. Executive chef Antony Shirley adds his international experience from Harvey Nichols in Knightsbridge to Raffles in the West Indies. His food ranges from pub classics such as Salt beef and potato pie with caper and mustard relish, pickled red cabbage and gravy to signature dishes like Hake wrapped in proscuttio with olive crushed potatoes, parsley and lemon dressing and Derby Arms fish stew with prawn bisque, seasonal fish and shellfish, saffron potatoes, croutes, garlic mayo and Gruyère. And as a cask marque member, traditional award-winning cask ales and local brews from Lancashire breweries are part of a well-maintained selection of wines, spirits and soft drinks. Other Seafood Pub Company properties include the Oyster & Otter at Feniscowles, near Blackburn, the Assheton Arms at Downham, the Fenwick Arms at Claughton, near Lancaster, the Barley Mow at Pendle, near Burnley and the Farmers Arms at Great Eccleston, near Garstang.
