Appalling - very stuffy, cramped and little in the way of temperature control.Poor food, awful staff and the access to the restuarant via a set of narrow stairs is unbeliable.Over rated, over priced and would never visit again

since moving to Yorkshire 5yrs ago we don't go as often as we used to but on the times we have returned we find the standard has not changed, excellent. even our new Yorkie friends who have been with us beg to return. well worth the 120 mile round trip.

Here has to be the best steaks you will ever find, Blue to well done, they are always cooked to perfection, and the quality of the beef is 2nd to none. And there is always a great selection of specials and other quality dishes on offer. Nick is The Man, and always seems to find time to talk to his customers and make them feel at home, and there's not many chefs that do that these days. In my opinion, Nick's is the best restaurant for miles

My first time at Nick's for quite a number of years, why did I forget about this little gem!
The meal was delicious from start to finish, probably one of the nicest steaks I've had in a long time and there was plenty of it too.
Service was superb and the restaurant itself is just lovely.
I will be returning very soon.

Would never recommend ever. My parents went last night, waited 25 mins to get served with a drink, when the starter came the calamari was chewy and tough(over cooked), then the steak had no taste and potatoes were hard. When the waitress asked if everything was okay and he said "NO"she said "its NICKs nobody complains about NICKs". Nick came over he didn't charge my parents for the calamari. £70.00 on a terrible night, he accused them of pulling this stunt 12 months ago- how rude.!! They went for the 1st time in NOV 09 for sisters engagement and enjoyed it. What poor service!!On there facebook profile somebody has nominated them for Gordon Ramsay's F WORD -never !!! Service will let them down, Gordon will turn them inside out!!!My Dad went for his 65th Birthday. Thanks for spoiling it for them!! Mrs Claire Ramsden

It was our first time in Bolton. we are from Jersey CI .
I saw nicks restaurant on line. It looked nice and homely.
We were not disappointed. The steak was cooked to perfection probably the best steak I have ever eaten. There was more than enough veg. and the dessert was divine.
Nick came out to speak to his customers. He seemed relaxed and in control even though it had been busy Thursday night.
All of his staff were polite, and cheerful.
In this economic crisis I hope that local and visitors a like support this lovely little restaurant. well done you should be proud

Great value for money here although we do feel that last time we went things had slipped a bit. The service was a bit rushed to begin with and then we were left for 40 mins for our next course. The vegetables as well were a bit on the meagre side. One small dish between two people.
We hope things aren't slipping as we really love this place.

Good food but tables too close together, air con blowing on table all through meal, had to keep coats on back of chairs as no where to hang them. Have been before and this time was not as good as previous occasions.
