In all honesty- I find it impossible to recommend Top Wok to anyone.
The quality of food has really declined between our last visit 3 years ago and most recent visit on 1 July 2011.
The restaurant was maybe 5% occupied (2 tables out of many--between 7-45 and 9-30 pm on a Friday evening. It tells a story indeed.
The service was excellent but the food was terrible , dry and tasteless- unlike what the Top Wok used to serve.
It ruined a special occasion for us both.
We ordered the Pearl Banquet @ £24-50 per person. We could have paid for any Chinese takeaway at 1 third of the price and received and enjoyed it much more .
No wonder the place was empty and no wonder there are no positive reviews written about Top Wok during the last 2 years.
On another note - my wife went to ladies room and noticed a member of staff there at same time- who 'did not' wash her hands before leaving .
I am aware that this review will not be published on line- but- if you forward this information to the Top Wok-- maybe it will 'wake them up' and drive them forward to restore the restaurant to the premier eating place it 'used to be.

Booked a meal for valentines day night, I was looking forward to it but when we got there we were shown to our table straight away into a smoke filled room that was freezing cold. We ordered a bottle of red wine which was so cold we had to send it back. There were only 2 other couples in this room, which was painted green with green radiators. My fiance was sat at the table facing this very interesting plain green wall and radiator ( how very nice). The menu was a Banquet, the starter came, everything was deep fried, yuk. the second course was "guess what" a prawn cocktail ha ha yes how very Chinese, then we had the smallest portion of crispy duck, which was ok. Then the main meal which was fine. For dessert my partner had a bowl of ice cubes with about 4 lychees in it, I had ice-cream which was served in a bowl on its own and it was horrible, powdery and full of ice. The coffee's were very nice. A service charge was automatically put on the bill without us being told. On the whole we will not be going back. Very disappointing. 2*

Eight of us celebrated a birthday at the Top Wok, the food and the service was excellent, drinks a little bit pricey and watch out for the Service Charge. Still well worth a visit.

We love this place, the staff are extremely friendly and helpful, although they can sometimes be too attentive! the food is lovely and always quick service. You do need to ask for breaks between courses otherwise it can feel like a conveyor belt! but otherwise, faultless. Highly recommended for Chinese lovers

Not a huge fan of chinese but am now. The food was brilliant, we had a banquet for 4 but it could have done 6. Will go again.

This restaurant is amazing and if you like lobster and they have it in, it is a must. Lobster in spring onion and ginger, it is heaven and the only way to eat it is rip it apart. The staff are very friendly. The food comes very quickly and is also very hot and fresh. If you want a breather between meals they are quite happy to give you 5 - 10 mins no problem, you are never rushed. This chinese restaurant is one of my favourites and recommend it to anyone. Fabulous food, great service very good wine menu
