Hi. I worked at the Hole in One. John and Karen do there best. I was the Italian chef there and I enjoyed every minute of it. Just a pity to see these bad comments. I'm working in southampton. But I love to work there again. As an Italian chef.

I read all the negative comments on here about the Hole in one, and thought id pop in and check out the food. I was pleasantly surprised to find, they had a ''Evergreen'' menu for us older folks who cant eat much, and a much larger menu. Me and the wife, had the 2 courses for £6.95, and my son had the Gammon steak off the much larger menu. When the food arrived we couldn't wait to tuck in as the smelt and tasted superb! Not to mention my son couldn't finish his Gammon as it was a very large plate! We were very happy with our experience and have no idea what the fuss is about. The Hole in one is very quiet but every now and again you do find a hidden treasure, and this pub is just that! Thanks to the staff!Regards, Paul Baker

Sunday 21st April 2013.Just been to the Hole in One at Lytham, what an expensive disappointment. We arrived just before 12 noon to beat the rush, we had to wait to be let in, ("strange, there was only one other car on the car park") there was an overpowering smell of strong bleach when we entered. On choosing a table the waitress asked us if we would like a drink while we were waiting because the "Carvery" would not be ready for 10 - 15 minutes, but we could help ourselves to the free salad in the meantime, on seeing this and the missing customers should have set the alarm bells ringing, most of it was left over from the night before,(which was later confirmed because the chef/cook appologised for being late but he had just returned from Booths where he had been for the salads,) the sauces had not even been stirred up, the salad cream was brown and crusty round the edges, the onions were dried up and only a few were edible, the tomatoes looked mushy etc. Eventually at 25mins. past 12 we were told it was ready, the roasts were gammon, turkey and beef, the only fresh one being the beef, the other two were left over from last night, the small piece of turkey should have been put out for the fox who lives in the adjacent woods but he would probably have turned his nose up at it anyway. The vegs etc. looked alright but that was as far as it went, most of it obviously warmed up from last night and tasteless, while we were there we saw them bring some fresh mash potatoes in and put them on top of the old ones not even mixing them up, we did complain but none of the management came to apologise and on paying the nearly £17 bill, we asked if there was any chance of a reduction they refused saying we could have had another meal, the saying once bitten twice shy comes to mind. When we left at 1.05 there was still no new customers only poor food going worse on the counter. Needless to say we shall not be returningP Byrom (Local Author of books on Lytham

We have just eaten at the new "carvery" 6:30 on a Sunday. Dried up leftovers of the lunch serving, it was appalling. I would not recommend this pub for food and the staff couldn't care less. When no turkey left one of our table ordered a prawnsalad. Tasteless tiny prawns with some lettuce, tomatoe and cucumber. Overall one the worst pub dining experiences we have ever had.

We really enjoyed our first visit to the Hole in One, it had recently changed hands, new menu, food was absolutely lovely, reasonable and nice atmosphere and lovely staff. However how disappointing they have changed it to a carvery, food was tasteless plates freezing, expensive starters for what you get on the plate overall bill very expensive went home still hungy. Atmoshpere still great, staff lovely, asked if they would return to original menu, was advised they were doing better trade with the carvery, how we do not know. The management need to re look at this if it is profit before great food, what a shame, wont go back unless they get rid of carvery. disappointed customer

Visited the hole in one on a groupon voucher, sorry to say but I was highly disappointed, it is a very large pub in the middle of a housing estate looks nice from the outside, on entering there was one other table of customers who immediately turned round and stared at us ! We then entered the restaurant which was virtually empty, the waitress who served us was very pleasant . We had home made vegetable which was absolutely tasteless I ate it as I was starving, we chose Sunday roast which was pork or beef, the meal arrived on a small dinner plate which consisted of a few roast potatoes which tasted like they had been reheated a few times, the veg was dry garden peas over cooked green beans and mashed carrot which was ok, the Yorkshire pudding was small and tasteless and the gravy was extremely bland, again I was very hungry so ate it but I would definitely not return or recommend it ... Sorry

Ate here a few times, foods ok and price is reasonable. We recommended friends with there children to eat. All had a good meal and service was good. The meal was totally ruined by aggressive bar man who approached us with a face like thunder and shouted at our table because our friends children were collecting beer mats. I tried to approach the man again at the bar but all he did was shout and would not listen. A young lady waiting on did apologise to us for the bar mans behaviour which was something. We all left feeling insulted and I will not be returning or recommending this pub again.

Just been for a meal at The Hole in One and it was lovely. Have been here on several occasions and have never been disappointed! Home made food which is nice as opposed to fast food. Friendly staff and nothing too much trouble. Curry Night on Thursdays but other choices.Nice pub in a nice area.

Don't bother visiting... a party of approx 20 for a Christmas lunch Dec 2011... what can go wrong with that? Well, the main dishes were awful and the chef and staff rather grumpy. When comment made to waitress no-one bothered to respond and I didn't make a fuss at the time to avoid upsetting our organiser! But they have now lost a possible 20 returning customers!
