Not Happy!
I went to The Crescent for my lunch from work on Friday. What a mistake! I ordered the 5oz rump steak rare medium (£3.49). I chose this as i know that a steak has to be cooked from fresh and therefore the best value for money. I was also lead into a false sense of security by the fact that you can get a fantastic rump steak from The Admiral (down the road) for £4 on the two for £8 menu. it arrived twenty minutes later and it actually looked okay! I tasted a pea, which was rock hard and i commented to my friend that if i threw it at the window it would probably break (not something i would complain about, i'm not a moaner), he was amused. Now to the real problem. The steak. I went for the thinest part of the steak first which was too bloody for rare medium and chewed for about a minute and proceded with the chips and onion rings. It is a sad day when the chips are the focal point of your meal! I went back to the steak and attacked the thicker part. I couldn't even cut through it with my steak knife. One of my friends mentioned to take it back but i went on trying. Then i finally realised that this was nigh on inedible, unless you are a wolf, lion or some other creature that tears carcasses apart with their teeth. I promptly took it back to the bar and informed the staff that it was something i could not eat, and demonstrated this with my cutlery. Embarrased, the staff took it back into the kitchen and gave me my money back. All this made me late back to work so i am thoroughly unimpressed. I will only return for the lager, which was quite nice.
Big M
Great value food, perfect for a lunch break. All mains are £3.50 and under. which can make it cheaper than going to a sandwich shop or chippy. Try the vegetarian mixed grill!!!
Crescent, The
Didn't even know this place did food. dropped in one lunchtime to watch the football and was pleasantly surprised -- tasty Thai curry at a reasonable price.
