The Canton Chef in Honley is a modern and upmarket Chinese restaurant. There is a separate bar and lounge area and the restaurant proper boasts tables with crisp white tablecloths and rotating Lazy Susans in the centre. Canton Chef is open seven nights a week from 5pm to 11pm and the a la carte menu offers a wide choice, including a vegetarian menu and special set meals for between two and six people. There is a good choice of wines and the service from Ray and his team is tip-top. A takeaway service is available with deliveries to the Honley, Holmfirth, Huddersfield and Kirklees areas.

Situated on Main Street in Brandesburton, China Palace is a family run Chinese with an excellent reputation. It’s decorated in traditional style with a large mural adorning the wall at one end and can comfortably accommodate up to 92 diners. There is a separate bar area and also a private dining space for parties and functions. China Palace is open seven days a week, from 5pm to 11pm Monday to Saturday and from 12 noon to 2.30pm and 5pm to 11pm on Sundays.

Crown Buffet on Leeds’ Gower Street is an Oriental buffet restaurant where you can eat as much as you want from a choice of 50-plus dishes. It’s a clean and open-plan dining space that can seat up to 200 people in comfort and it’s ideal for family groups and business parties in terms of both choice and cost (£5.50 during the day and £9.95 in the evening). The selection includes starters, mains and desserts as well as Chinese hot pot specialities and a Mongolian buffet where you select the food and the chef cooks it in front of you. Crown Buffet is fully licensed and is open seven days a week from noon til 11pm.

This flagship restaurant of the Maxis group opened in Leeds in 1989. A regular haunt of celebrities and sports stars, it serves Cantonese and Peking cuisine prepared by experienced chefs from Hong Kong and China. Choose from a la carte, set menus, banquets and dim sum with plenty of choice for vegetarians too. Maxis Leeds can accommodate 200 people and also has two VIP rooms. There are sister restaurants in York and in Leeds' The Light shopping complex.

Maxis serves Cantonese and Peking cuisine prepared by experienced chefs from Hong Kong and China. Choose from a la carte, set menus, banquets and dim sum with plenty of choice for vegetarians too. Entertainment makes for a vibrant atmosphere here on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights. Apart from the Leeds flagship, there is also a Maxis restaurant in Leeds' The Light shopping complex.

Occupying a prominent corner position on Westgate, just opposite Shipley Market, Pan Choice is a Cantonese buffet restaurant which also offers Thai and English food. The interior décor is green and red with clean and simply-laid wooden tables and the focal point is the open kitchen where you can see the chefs in action. Family run by a husband (chef) and wife (front of house) team, Pan Choice serves a great value set price buffet every evening, at lunch on a Friday and all afternoon and evening on Sundays. Family friendly, they cook fresh and healthy food every day and kids eat for half price. They cater for all types of celebrations, have discounts for larger parties, free cake if it’s a birthday and Karaoke. Vegetarian buffets can be organised and a full takeaway menu has all your favourite Chinese and Cantonese favourites and additionally offers Thai curries and Tom Yum dishes. Royal Eastern at Queensbury is the only Chinese Restaurant in West Yorkshire with a professional singer, Carina, as well as a dance floor, disco and karaoke on request. Head chef Mr Li has worked in many prestigious restaurants and five star hotels around the world, including Japan and Dubai. There is a bar area and a private function room which caters for both large parties and corporate function. A projector screen is available for the latter and for celebrations Royal Eastern can arrange table plans and balloons at no extra charge. The restaurant has a large private car park with its own car jockey, full disabled facilities and a separate halal menu.
