Positioned in the centre of the village of Sowerby, Oswalds dates back to the 16th Century when it was a dairy known as Church Farm. Today this restaurant with boutique rooms is a perfect retreat from the hustle of York city centre and a perfect choice if visiting the races at Thirsk and other nearby towns. The restaurant serves modern British cuisine created by the passionate kitchen team using the best local, seasonal produce available, beautifully presented. Plans are underway to introduce a farm shop to the operation so guests can buy the same produce the restaurant uses to take home with them. The accommodation consists of 16 boutique, en suite rooms rendered to a luxurious finish with bath robes, wifi and full hospitality facilities. They hold regular events including Jazz and Swing dinners as well as being able to accommodate weddings and private functions. Family Sunday lunches are a pilgrimage and guest are treated as one big family with the joints being carved at table. Open for dinner Monday-Sunday and lunch Tuesday-Sunday.
