My husband and I ate here on Sat 3rd Oct. Our table was booked for 7.30 and whilst it was quite when we got there (it still had a good atmosphere though) by the time we left it was very busy.
All the food including the bread & butter was delicious and can't be faulted. I personally don't eat meat and I'm usually left with either salmon or an uninspiring veggie dish to choose from but not here. The veggie & fish choices were excellent and the portion sizes were huge!
The service was calm and attentive and again couldn't be faulted. They also had a singer and pianist on which just added to a brilliant night. We will definitely be going back!

I would appreciate it if you could forward this e-mail to Jalons Bridewell.
Last night I visited Jalons with my husband and another couple of friends. We have been to Jalons on Smithdowne Road on many occasions and can't praise the restaurant enough. I have even said to friends that it is the best restaurant that I have ever been too for the food and service. However, this unfortunately wasn't the case for Jalons in Bridewell.
We were sat upstairs in the main restaurant area, unfortunately far too close to the music which was fine but just too loud! The waiters/waitresses were difficult to understand and seemed to be rushing us throughout the meal, they slammed the cutlery on our table for the second course. The food wasn't a patch on the food at the other Jalons. When it was time for desserts they must have asked us 3 times to order but we just wanted a break.
To make things even worse, there were 2 large parties of girls (one a hen party and one a birthday party) who just wanted to sing and shout as loudly as possible. The ambience of the place was totally spoiled and it felt more like a TGI Fridays! Goodness knows what the couples in the place thought if they were trying to have a romantic meal for two.
It is such a shame that the restaurant is being run in this way, it is though the manager just wants to fill the place with anyone, the staff need more training in waiter/waitressing skills and the food needs to come up to scratch.
We will never visit Jalons Bridewell again, the night totally put us off. We did feed this information back to one of the bar staff when we went downstairs. She actually seemed very nice and we saw her talking to who we think was the manager but he never came and said anything to us. I would have thought that someone in his position should have come to apologise to us.

My husband and I went with friends on Saturday night, and thought it was very nice. We ate in one of the former cells - complete with thick iron cell door that can be closed over for privacy. I had the red mullet starter and Pot Roast Lamb shank with mash for my main - both very nice. It was reasonable, as well - you pay a set price for two courses depending on the date and time you go. For us, at 6.30pm on a Saturday, it was only £13.95 each, which was very good. We treated ourselves to a cheesecake afterwards which was delicious.
Staff were very friendly, had a nice atmosphere and we would definitely go back. The only criticism was that perhaps they could be a bit more generous with their vegetables - we got a very small bowl between four. But all in all, would thoroughly recommend! Nice food and an unusual setting.

My boyfriend and I went to Jalons Bridewell last Friday and before we went I had doubts as I love Jalons in Wavertree and didn't think it could as good, also the jazz group had me worried as I hate Jazz. I needn't have worried as the service and meal was lovely, and the music was fine (no jazz!). My boyfriend had the liver parfait to start which was gorgeous. After the meal we sat and had a drink and I had the Bridewell cocktail which was outstanding.
We will definitely return here.

I recently visited here with my family for my Mothers birthday and didn't get past the front door. The staff had mislaid my details regarding the booking of a party of six, although they had contacted me the night before. Even thought this was their error, I was not compensated by a thoroughly uncooperative Maitre'd, who was more occupied with making sure a trio of orange wannabe WAGS (who were incidentally friends of the barmaid) secured a table on an already fully booked night. My family and friends will not be visiting here again for more unprofessional service and nepotism

We ate here on Grand National Evening. The restaurant was very busy but we had booked a cell. We were 10 minutes late being seated then waited 20 minutes to receive our menus and had to prompt the manager and they were almost thrown at us by the young waiter.
We then waited 30 minutes for our starters after being told that a large party of 35 had just arrived. We were offered more bread!Fitting for a former police cell! The meal was ok, but nothing special and we have had better on previous visits. We were offered a reduction in our bill for the long wait, and received a refund on a bottle of wine. All in all a disappointing evening.
