Sakura Liverpool is the largest Teppanyaki restaurant in the North of England. Based in the prestigious Exchange Flags of Liverpool directly adjacent to the Town Hall, Sakura opened in May 2010 and has certainly caused a good reaction. The 400 cover restaurant features an open plan dining room with expert Teppanyaki chefs working their magic amongst the tables. The interior is impressive, a contemporary and stylish space with state of the art lighting, large tanks containing live lobsters and oysters and they claim to offer the largest selection of live seafood in the UK, most of which is delivered direct from the Orkneys. There are also two private dining rooms available for private celebrations and corporate functions. The executive head chef Masamitsu Morino has nearly 40 years experience and has a background at the Jumeirah Emirates Tower and together with head chef Girish Gopalakrishnan (ex-Gordon Ramsay), they lead a team of creative chefs offering menus spanning Sushi and Sashimi and smaller dishes which you can treat like Tapas. The main event offers two styles of cooking; Robata, a Japanese charcoal grill, offering a range of line caught and hand dived seafood and fish, prime meats such as Kurobuta pork and Wagyu beef and vegetables; and Teppanyaki where your meat and fish dishes are cooked at the table on a special heated steel plate in front of you. Sundays are a family fun day with a martial arts performance, face painting, childrens menu and a chocolate fountain.
