I have just moved to Maida Vale and was very happy to see that there were a few Caribbean restaurants on the Shirland Road, but none beat Fats. The rice and peas is the real stuff, very different from what you normally get. There is a great Cajun / Creole twist with the food, and the stewed chicken is melt-in-your-mouth. Chef/owner Sam is an institution in the area, and he welcomed me to the neighbourhood with a free helping of fried plantain. Fats will definitely become my Sunday evening treat and I hope this will become a tradition - a genuinely friendly, authentic Caribbean / Cajun / Creole eatery with divine food - a real find!
