It has been a long time since I have been to London, so I hope this store is still open. In 2005 a few weeks before the bombings I visited London with my school, from Wyoming. I was in Covent Garden and stumbled onto this restaurant with my girlfriend of the time. The Restaurant is beautifully decorated in Indian style. I almost felt like I was in a private garden. Inside, and around a corner, an older Indian gentleman was playing the Sitar with a younger Austrian fellow. Then an older British lady welcomed us and sat us down.
The sandwiches are all Indian themed cuisine, and absolutely delicious. Every bite was as magical as the vibe the restaurant presented. My memory is a bit foggy here, but, Eventually the Sitar playing gentleman started conversation with my girlfriend and I, he was kind and good humored, and intensely wise.
If you are looking for a meal that you will remember the rest of your life, I certainly recommend this restaurant in all of its total unique splendor.

Designer Sandwiches was declared the second best sandwich shop in Britain. It won many awards with it owners Moya & Syed Ahmed appearing often in the media. Syed is a Master Class Sitar player and often gives concerts; he is also involved in charity work in India where he runs a free sitar school. When one visits the shop one is often treated to live soothing Sitar music by Syed Ahmed if you are lucky.
