Under new management, The Davenport on Stockport's Buxton Road has opened a new restaurant, the Garden Bar and Grill. The 40-cover restaurant is set in the hotel's elegant landscaped garden and Head Chef James McGrory has put together a selection of classic British and European dishes, complemented by an extensive wine list. Signature mains include Roasted monk fish wrapped in parma ham with a creamy tarragon and lemon sauce, Herb-crusted lamb with onion marmalade, mushroom and a rich gravy and Chateaubriand Steak with white wine, shallots, demi tarragon and lemon butter, bay leaf and thyme sauce. There is a wide selection of dishes to choose from including a choice of salads and pasta and rice dishes (which are also available as a gluten-free option). The restaurant is open every evening from 5pm and at weekends for lunch. And when weather permits, you can dine al fresco in the garden. The Davenport has 40 reasonably priced rooms and also function facilities that can cater for parties of between 20 and 200, including weddings.
