Six of us went to La Familia last night at their new Hale restaurant. Everything started well, however, following a long wait (around an hour) for our main courses, we obviously had a problem. Four people ordered veal, which was overcooked and cold, one ordered a pizza, which was apparently very nice, and one ordered chicken, which came out as vegetable soup. When mentioning this to one of the 2 waiting staff (having to deal with ~60 covers) I was told I would have to speak to the manager who was in the kitchens. The manager promptly threw all six of us (including two pensioners and one pregnant lady) out for complaining.
I have never been so rudely treated in a restaurant before and will certainly never again. The food was bad, the restaurant was understaffed, the owner rude beyond compare. Do yourself a favour and eat at a McDonalds instead.

Good food but expensive. We had to wait 1 hour for our starter. This is unacceptable!

Excellent little restaurant.
The highlight of the evening was the waiting staff. Always quick and efficient with a real family feel about the place. The waiters also had a real down-to-earth and friendly sense of humour as well.
Food-wise we couldn't complain. The service was fine (not too quick and not too long) and the quality of the food was very good.
Overall a lovely little family restaurant and a real treat for a quiet and enjoyable meal - regardless of party size.
