One of Manchester’s top gastropubs, Sam’s Chop House serves traditional British fare alongside an outstanding wine list and local cask ales and lagers. Artist L.S. Lowry was a regular here and he now sits in life-sized statue form at the bar.

Sam’s Chop House serves traditional, hearty British fare in a venue straight out of Dickens. The signature corned beef hash and steak and kidney pudding are long-standing favourites here but the menu changes with the seasons and is complemented by an outstanding and award-winning wine selection. A recent addition to the bar is a life-sized bronze statue of the famous Northern artist L.S. Lowry, who was a regular. Come and take a picture with him -- he won't mind! The nearby Mr Thomas's Chop House is a sister establishment along with a second Sam’s Chop House in Leeds. Their newest addition is set to open in November, The Albert Square Chop House,. in Manchester.

Great place for a "real" beer in the city centre. Was inspired to go for a look at the Bronze of LS Lowry that perpetually resides at the bar here. Gives the place real character. Foods good too I hear. C We enjoyed a nice meal at Sams,and would recommend ,i had a steak and my wife a vegetarian dish and both were v good.A good atmosphere in a traditional setting we will go again. Ronaldo Sam's Chop House is a brilliant place to eat that I go to every time I visit Manchester. As another reader said the Steak and Kidney Pud is outstanding and I the service is wonderful. Price is more than you would expect to pay in a typical pub but this isn't a typical pub. James Sams is a great place i am not only saying that because i work their as a chef its is because its what a British restaurant should be all the food is delivered each morning it makes are job hard preparing so much produce each morning. But its so worth it to have all the great compliments from the customers it motivates the team and helps to maintain the his standards we aim to achieve. So thank you to all the customers keeping loving what we do. Special thanks to head chef amanda nottingham for all her hard work helping me do what i enjoy Simon Crow Love this place. Serves good wholesome English Food. The Steak and Kidney Pudding and Chips are truly outstanding and so filling. In fact there is some much steak and kidney in the pudding they have to serve the gravy in a separate gravy boat. Really top draw grub! Robbo1998
