Amalfi is THE pre-theatre dining venue in Sunderland, situated in the city’s historic centre right in front of the Empire Theatre. This Italian restaurant has been established 20 years but under the current ownership for the last eight and offers an extensive Italian menu and wine list, a specials board that changes twice a week and special pre-theatre deals. As well as the usual pizza and pasta favourites, Amalfi has a good selection of home-made breads and lots of choice in chicken, fish, beef and fillet main courses. The restaurant seats up to 80 diners and can cater for functions and private parties. Amalfi is open for lunch Wednesday to Saturday and dinner Monday to Saturday.

Sunderland’s Asiana Fusion offers diners one of the best panoramas in the northeast with spectacular views out over the River Wear. It’s located on the ground floor of the prestigious Echo 24 apartments, next to the Empire cinema and the Wearmouth Bridge, and can seat up to 240 diners in very modern surroundings. The menu has a great selection of pan-Asian food with dishes from China, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Japan and Vietnam. Try the signature Almaty crispy duck. Asiana Fusion is open for lunch and dinner every day and welcomes functions and parties of all kinds.
