Having been to Creelers on Arran, and being delighted by such fresh produce I was keen to try the City offering in Edinburgh.
For its location I was expecting a busy Sunday Lunchtime so booked well in advance but was pleasantly surprised when the restaurant was less than packed. A perfect un hassled quiet Sunday lunch.
Food:
The fixed price menu was well balanced and good value, and the staff seemed knowledgeable of the menu and able to convey this to guests of all nationalities. Fish names often don't translate.
I had the fish soup followed buy a smoked haddock and leek risotto; my husband had the squat lobster tails refreshingly served out of shell (thank you) followed by the fish pie. Both courses were served in good time by pleasant staff.
No room for dessert but the menu offered an interesting array of run of the mill puds along with some more adventurous offerings. Good coffee left us sated and happy to continue on our way around Edinburgh.
A good fish restaurant in the heart of the City - but not a patch on Creelers Arran.
