We had our office xmas meal at the Cow Shed, although it was a little pricey the food, atmosphere and service was excellent. Its a shame there are only a handful of good restaurants in Wakefield.

Cow Shed Restaurant and Grill – WakefieldThe BEST Indian restaurant in Wakefield. Excellent food and good service. Speak to the waiters for advice on what dish to choose. We go about once every two months and try a different dish every time and have yet to be disappointed in the last 2 years.
Red Chilli II – WakefieldExcellent. Definitely recommend. Although there is not much competition due to the lack of good restaurants in Wakefield this place is great. The food is to die for and is reasonably priced. Give it a try you wont be disappointed.
Thai on the Square – Wakefieldgrapollo - WHAT A PLACE! classy, affordable, and food cooked with real passion. Great venue - brill decor and would easy cope with large parties if required. Best fillet steaks ever. huge choice on menu for everyone, be it vegetarians, meat lovers, or even the fussy bunch. Clean kitchen that is open and can be seen from restaurant. Finally - no boil in the bag sauces or ready prepared veg! very friendly bunch and holds a lovely atmosphere. My boyfriend is a chef himself so is very hard to please indeed! One of our faaaav places ever to eat now and we have become sunday tea regulars. Dont know what the dessert is like as we have never had space for one, but they all sound very tempting and look beautifully presented when we have seen other tables eating them
Grappolo Restaurant – Huddersfieldjust moved to the area and decided to try the Crosby for lunch. It is superb, the food, hospitality and ambience of the place, we now go every week. Really home cooked food which tastes delicious - try the sherry trifle!!!
Crosby, The – Northallertoni didn't like it i hate spicy food and even there mild lemon and herb spicy chicken was to spicy for me, and there kids meal selection is also spicy it was a waste of money. we eat out all over and have never complained but this place i didn't one bit. also my 4 year old hated it cos they never sold juice.
Nando’s – MiddlesbroughMe and my husband went to Chaplin's on a Sunday evening was a very interesting place, different but in a good way. The service is good and friendly and the food was beautiful, and definitely homemade. The only problem a had that evening was the noise from the kitchen which was sadly too close to my table, the chefs must have anger issues as we could hear the shouting from the kitchen too clearly, it made us feel very uncomfortable. We will although return as other than that it was a joyful evening.
Chaplins Bistro – Keighleywe fell upon amaans purely by accident, due to a falling out with my partner. and i must say we were pleasantly surprised. the food was fantastic, so much so. whenever we have friends or family meeting we arrange to go there. my daughter who lives in Cleveland also tries to come through to amaans as they too found the food to be excellent. we do go there 3 or 4 times in the month.
Saffron Desi – MorleyI went to Bibi's in April 2007 for my mum's hen party, we was staying in The Golden Lion Hotel and someone else who was staying in the Hotel told us about Bibi's, Well they was wright the food was to die for and the service was out of this world. I have never had food like, it was that good i am coming back to Leeds in March with 7 friends and we are going to Bibi's and my mum and her husband are coming to Leeds in May. The only thing i would say is that you can't book and when you have a large group you can wait a while however it's worth the wait...
Bibis Italianissimo – Leeds City CentreA bad experience I'm afraid. Food was a bit cold and over-spiced. Nan bread was flat and a bit wet. Maybe we got them on a bad day.
Raies – RoundhayAn absolutely amazing restaurant! A menu with a wide range of choice, all made from fresh produce, outstanding service with a friendly face to greet you at the door and serve your table. As far as the selection of wines that are available goes, it is outstanding to see such a small restaurant offering such a great and reasonably priced choice of whites, reds and champagnes. An all round good restaurant!
The Three Houses Inn – WakefieldThe food is first rate along with the very helpful and bubbly staff, this makes for a very pleasant eating experience. Top marks to the management of this establishment.
Chiquito Restaurant and Bar – HullLast time we went they had just hiked their prices up, and although it used to be very good value it's a bit overpriced now. We went on a Thursday and although there was hardly anyone there the service was terrible. It gets very noisy when it's busy at weekends - not a place for a romantic meal out.
Mezzaluna Ristorante – BarnsleyMy boyfriend used to go on about how great this restaurant is, but I can only assume that it's gone downhill over time. The staff have never been friendly, and looked at me like something from the bottom of his shoe when I asked for the leftovers in a doggy bag. The food is pretty bland, and I ordered food to take out a little while back after waiting well over an hour they sent me out with the wrong order. You can imagine my disappointment when I bit into my "lamb" only to find it was fish. After that we've never bothered going back - there's a much, much better Indian round the corner called Royal Spice which I can't recommend highly enough.
Darton Balti Restaurant and Takeaway – BarnsleyThis is far and away my favourite Indian in Barnsley. It might not look like much from the outside as it's up a stairway above a betting shop, but their curry is out of this world - always full of flavour and so tasty it puts most other Indian's in the shade. The staff are always very polite and friendly and I've ever never been disappointed. If you love curry you've got to give this place a try. It's right in the middle of town and stays open late, so it's perfect if you fancy a curry after you've had a night out in town. They also deliver.
India Garden, The – BarnsleyDO NOT EAT AT LITTLE TOKYO!!!! This used to be one of our favourite restaurants in Leeds, but I don't know if it's under new management or something?! The last time we visited and will ever visit again was on my birthday at the end of October. The so called "manager" gave us the worse service I have ever ever experienced. Having eaten here many times before, we mentioned to the waiter than the chicken teriyaki from a bento box meal tasted slightly different than usual (basically it tasted like it had been reheated and had gone hard). The manager disputed this and was incredibly rude. He refused to change the meals with the rock hard meat and then kept arguing with us (something to do with how life isn't fair....what??) and wouldn't leave the table. When I politely asked that he leave as he was ruining my birthday, he refused and told me that I was "ruining my own birthday" (somehow by choosing to come to what was once one of our favourite places to eat)?? He never did anything about our inedible meals so we refused to pay for them as we hadn't eaten the rest of the box as it had gone cold by this point. There was a group of about 8 of us and we paid fully for everything else (starters, all the other meals and the wine etc) but there was no reasoning with this clearly inexperienced manager who then threatened and actually ended up calling the police as we knew we were in the right!!! He barricaded us into the restaurant and refused to open the door until the police came. When the police showed up they basically sided with us as they could clearly see no-one was even drunk or rowdy and it was obvious that the manager was just being unreasonable. The police explained to the manager that he should respect that other customers might have different tastes than himself. Unwilling to understand this concept he reluctantly backed down and let us leave, having paid for 80% of our bill anyway. This obviously completely ruined my birthday and Little Tokyo has now lost out on 8 regular customers. If you're thinking of going to a restaurant where you are entitled to say if something is not right then this is DEFINITELY not the place for you!!!!! THIS IS A TRUE STORY, DO NOT EAT HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Little Tokyo – Leeds City CentreExcellent food - best meat samosas I have ever tasted and agree with earlier reviewer that the Lamb Nahari is great. The service was attentive and friendly. We will definitely be back
Zouk Tea Bar – BradfordTurned up on a Sunday 13th Jan after been ill for 2 weeks. It was like a tonic, welcoming, cosy and felt like having won a prize for your own personal overnight 5 star break.David the proprietor and his staff give a experience from wine advice to avery 5 star meal at so affordable prices. If we were closer for Valentines we would book in.Local art adorns the walls and itblends the period hotel with a modern twist right down to thefloral art.well worth a visit
