Nice little restaurant in the heart of woodhouse. Staff more than friendly and I can? rate the food enough, especially the chicken strips for starter, very nice. Quiet restaurant as this really is a little gem.

I love the food at this place! i have eaten here a number of times and and each time the food has been excellent! The Calzone pizza is fantastic not to mention huge! the pasta dishes are lovely and the steak is beautiful. I always have melon & parma ham for staters, which although a little expensive for a starter is very much worth it as you get a full plate and is presented so well, like all the dishes. It really is hard to choose what to have off the menu! the service is generally very good but have had to wait a while on occasions for drinks. The restaurant is very clean and their is a nice atmosphere, but booking is a must as it gets very busy.

This was the best Thai food ever and as a vegetarian, it was the best I've ever eaten EVER. Wish they'd open more.

One of the few restaurants I have frequented where the quality and service are consistently excellent. Seafood is the speciality and is always fresh. You won't be disappointed.

Vennells Restaurant has simply the best food I have eaten in a very long time, even when compared to Michelin starred or fancy city centre restaurants. It also seems extremely consistent in its high standards - I have eaten there several times and have never been disappointed. The home smoked trout is a favourite but every single dish has been well thought out and is always perfectly executed. Other reviews have referred to the price but again I think this compares pretty well to other restaurants in the area. I actually quite like the honest pricing - a starter and main course together cost £21. It saves deliberations about whether to have a starter and it means you can order exactly what you feel like without worrying if it's more expensive than what someone else in the party is having! If you're in Masham or the Ripon area I would thoroughly recommend giving it a try. It's advisable to book in, especially at weekends but they have often managed to squeeze us in with relatively short notice too.

One of the success stories of N.Leeds. I go here quite often and always enjoy it. But is the owner putting more tables inside?....or is it just me. Don't go here if you don't want to hear other conversations or even have yours overheard. Some tables are barely ten inches apart

Always excellent food, best in the area. Place could do with a make over but it is clean and staff friendly.

well worth a visit .pam the landlady or the girls will serve you up a brilliant mix grill, yum yum yum nice. try it. lots to pick from

This is an absolutely fantastic place, I?e been several times and I?e always been very pleased. The food is very good even though it is extremely cheap, £13.50 each, even cheaper during the day! I would definitely recommend this to anyone.

My first choice was for the home-made soup and then I had a lovely fresh salad, what was really nice was the wonderful home-made coleslaw and cous cous with proper roasted veggies that I had with some poached salmon. My friend had the 'special' a home-made bubble & squeak. it was really good.

My in-laws stumbled across ate o clock and recommended it to us for our break. We were totally knocked of our feet by the outstanding menu and variety of tastes on our plates. Service was supreme and the food came quick and hot. Even met the chef who must be proud of his artistic, full flavoured food with superb sauces and perfectly cooked meats. A treat for the palate, wallet and mind.. Would travel 2hrs back to York just to go again.. Thank you!! Paul & Sharon (lincs)

My family and i attended the blue bell on Christmas day 2006, and the food was impeccable. The service on both the bar and restaurant was great even though they were very busy

We were looking for a pub with accommodation really but could not find anything with it being Easter period. Some kind locals suggested the Hobbit so we thought we'd give it a go. We could not believe our luck! The place is fantastic, not just the views, but the interior too and as if the wasn't enough the staff went above and beyond the call of duty to satisfy. The biggest surprise was the bill - way less than we thought it would be for what we got. So, make sure you try it and a big big big thank you to all the staff and good luck (you don't need luck by the way!) Loretta and Derek

We tried Viva Cuba after a recommendation from a friend... the food is delicious and the staff were very friendly, and it? amazing how busy the place always is. I would say value for money is ok; the portions are good size for money. Just difficult if you want to order lots of different dishes !!

i went to Bibis on sat 14th April with 3 friends. I?e never been before. i thoroughly enjoyed the evening. although i feel my meal could have been better, i think i must have chosen the 'wrong thing' for my main course. for my starter i had the garlic mushroom which were lovely, but my main course was braised beef with mashed potato. not particularly adventurous I have to confess, but the potato was only just warm and there was nothing particularly special about the beef. one of my friends had the beef stroganoff which was amazing. we were all to full to eat dessert. the restaurant has a great atmosphere, if anything a little too noisy as you can't really chat because you can't hear each other speak. but i would definitely go again. the bill came to £140.00 which was for 2 courses each a bottle of wine and a couple of beers.
