Accomplished cooking of quality ingredients. Starter of scallops generous, sweet meat and perfectly cooked. Trout with charred leeks and gribiche so balanced. I would have enjoyed more of the noodle/pickled shiitake with the lobster, liked the way it was served. Shared dessert rounded off the meal. If you love cooking great food, you’ll love eating at Hamnavoe

We had the pleasure of dining in the restaurant, and can honestly say we had a lovely evening, the restaurant in beautiful, the food was fantastic, cooked to order and tasted amazing, the staff where lovely.

Booked a table for 5 …service was top notch..starters were fab and plenty of them… main course steaks were done perfectly…..nice venue…give it a try ….

The food couldn't be faulted - it was delicious and exquisitely presented. It was a cosy, tasteful setting that should have made a perfect evening. However, the service was odd. We waited 45 minutes for our main meal . When we arrived noone took our coats though they assiduously took those of other guests. We were not offered the trout special though we could hear other guests were offered it. And noone asked if we wanted another glass of wine, despite others getting attentive treatment. We put it down to inexperienced staff but it made us feel a little second class.

It was my sixth visit to this restaurant and I never have been disappointed. Their menu uses local products and is always beautifully cooked. All the waiting staff are very nice and gentle. I'm always looking for an opportunity to go there as it is a special place to me. Thanks to Eugine who set up this amazing restaurant in Stromness, we could have an amazing food experience anytime!

I ate here for 2 nights and the food was lovely. I tried the Balmoral Chicken and the Steak pie both of which were served with herb mash and seasonal vegetables, they we're both delicious and the pie had lots of tender beef, I would definitely recommend eating here

This was my third visit to the Golden Lion and each time it did not disappoint. Delicious food, reasonably priced and excellent service. Good old fashioned service! The restaurant itself is lovely, private and intimate. Would definitely recommend.

Hamnavoe was that perfect dining experience that comes along once in a while and you wish it was your local restaurant. Fresh scallops, miso cod and lemon polenta cake were all magnificent washed down with a great pinot gris. Thank you to a fantastic chef and delightful staff- much appreciated!
