Sadly our traditional end of holiday meal at the Apple Inn was ruined by the barking of dogs just a few feet away from us. If I had known that dogs were allowed into the eating area and not just in the bar, I would not have booked. Until the dogs started , we were enjoying our Sunday roast; the lamb and veg were excellent although the Yorkshire puddings were so hard they had to be soaked in the gravy.

Brunch at the school house was lovely. Interesting building, good food, welcoming staff, and very dog friendly.

Amazing smoked duck salad. Great steak and pepper sauce. Apple pie was good but by far not enough custard. Just 2 tablespoons isn’t going to satisfy! Overall excellent quality food though. The staff were really helpful and friendly. My only complaint would be that service was extremely slow. The whole meal took over one and a half hours so was quite tedious waiting a long time between courses.

I can’t recommend this place highly enough. We have visited on several occasions and never been disappointed, the food is excellent and the staff are very friendly also very professional. We both had dishes from the specials menu and would definitely order it again. A lot of places state they are dog friendly but the Apple inn definitely is, our little dog loves the attention he gets from the staff.

The pub appears to have been recently renovated and is now smart but somewhat aseptic in feeling - not a traditional pub in feeling. Food was good however service was slow. Food is expensive - the two of us only had mains each + medium glasses of wine + coffee at £70. Certainly dog friendly.

Had a fabulous lunch here last week, celebrating my wifes birthday along with our grown up kids. The service was great, the young man looking after us (sorry, I didn't get your name) was very polite, obliging and attentive, taking our order and serving efficiently. The food was lovely, we had soup, chilli skins, fishcake and bruschetta for starters, would recommend all. Mains were steak and guinness pie - wonderful, tasty and tender, and felafel and sweet potato burger - equally nice. Good choice of beers and wine at reasonable prices. This was a great experience, booked easily online, and no complaints at all. Would thoroughly recommend. Looking forward to coming back soon.

Lovely food, good service and great staff. When bookinģ for a meal you should be informed that dogs are allowed in the restaurant and perhaps be offered alternative eating area.

We had two lovely meals at The Apple Inn and can really recommend the crusted salmon and the steak pie. Their signature Apple Dessert is both clever and very tasty making it one of the best desserts we've had in a very long time. Great and friendly service from some very busy but calm staff, good local beer, tasty local gin, dog-friendly and deservedly popular!

A lovely experience from start to finish and so easy to book online. Wonderful customer service - such a lovely friendly welcome, attentive but not too much! Nothing was a problem and so nice to be welcomed to somewhere with our fox red Labrador. (There are so many places that say they are dog friendly, but you have to keep them under the table, best behaviour etc., Our girl was very good, but it’s off putting to see that). The food was delicious and after a 4 hour drive, the nice cold Amstel went down a treat. Highly highly recommended! ⭐️

The breakfast at the school house was fantastic. My wife and I used the School House for three consecutive mornings. We had different breakfasts on each day and we were not disappointed. The food quality was great. The staff were very friendly and the atmosphere was pleasant for early in the day. Plus our Labrador was welcome and even got a free sausage of her own from the wonderful staff.

Best breakfast ever! The kippers & eggs Royale were excellent - plentiful, beautifully presented & very tasty. Tea & latte were a little too weak for our tastes however (despite brewing tea in pot for some time!). Website & Sugarvine confusing as opening times/ meal offerings are different. It appears that breakfast is available but no lunch/afternoon tea?). The building, decor & layout is superb. It is spacious, light & airey where our dogs were welcomed to accompany us whilst we dined. Our waitress was very friendly and helpful. As in the Apple Inn, the staff are not allowed to keep their tips given directly to them which is a shame when you want to treat the individual staff for their great service. Both the Schoolhouse & Apple Inn have provided the best food, service & surroundings on our holiday. We will return & do highly recommend both establishments.

On holiday in nearby cottage and our first visit booked on line after reading previous reviews. Our visit did not disappoint ,the whole experience from welcome to paying was enjoyable to say the least. Friendly staff, varied menu and quality food delivered , can highly recommend the chicken supreme and pork loin which was our choice . Lovely atmosphere ,visiting dogs all well behaved , only adverse comment not aimed at staff was an annoying child playing a game on an iPhone on full volume , surely the parents could have had them playing it on mute. Maybe a polite notice on the tables to ask for consideration for other diners would be a good idea. Have recommended this venue in the visitors book at our rental. Thank you to all involved.
