We went for carvery last Sunday as a family of 4, we booked in advance (about an hour before) and got a nice spacious table near to the carvery itself. From the minute we entered the service was excellent with every member of staff grating us with a smile which on a cold miserable day is just what you need! The food itself was lovely, we had 3 carverys and a child's meal. We have tried a few places recently for Sunday lunch but have decided the Ship will be one we will definitely be returning to. Would definitely recommend for service, quality and value for money.

Booked online s d table ready when we arrived. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. I ordered the two beef dishes which were nice but did expect more than carrots for roasted veg. My husband ordered the steak and veg pie but was really disappointed with the unusual filling of steak red peppers and mushrooms and didn't enjoy it. We ordered crumble for dessert which again was a little disappointing as the crumble topping was soft and not crumbly. However we would go back and try different dishes. Service and staff excellent.

Table was ready on time and was clean and tidy. Staff really helpful and attentive. Pub is really dog friendly so for us that is an added bonus. Not a large menu but it is varied. Placed order at bar arrived reasonably quickly and was lovely I had Steak and my partner Chicken. Neither of us had any complaints whatsever

Had a great lunch in this lovely dog friendly pub,, the crab cakes were amazing, portion much bigger than I expected. Had to substitute cod gougons for scampi but these were delicious too. Staff very friendly and accommodating pub nicely decorated very appropriately for the seaside!

Booked a table online for 5pm but turned up early so we could have a drink first but we were made to feel a little awkward as if this was not normal. Also, not a lot of places in the pub for just a drink, definetely more emphasis on food rather than being an all round pub that does food. Having said that, the menu and food was very basic with not a lot of veggie or vegan options and not a lot of thought or information provided. I had the burger which was ok, as were the chips but the slaw was awful. My husband had the Italian chicken which he said was alright but nothing special. The meal was quite expensive for what it was and the drinks though excellent, were very expensive. We had to wait 45 minutes for food as there was only one chef on duty. On the plus side, the pub itself is very pleasant and the location is excellent with wonderful views of the sea from our table.

We had Sunday lunch at the Ship yesterday. This was the first time we had been .We booked a table via the web site and what a good job we did because it was packed out! The food was excellent and the service great. The one thing that was a bit funny to start with was it was so busy that we couldn’t really work out how there system worked. We managed to find a member of staff who was lovely and she told us how it all works but because there were so busy finding a member of staff to start with was a bit tricky. The food was lovely and we didn’t have to wait too long for the food. I would definitely go back but I would recommend booking .

Called here for a Sunday carvery, and enjoyed it. The system of queueing for your turn was good, you collected your meal ticket and then the waitress came and told you when to queue, instead of creating a long queue you ended up in a short one and getting back to your table quickly. One concern was the warm day created a lot of flies being present.

My partner said it was the best chilli she'd ever had. My burger was also very good. Great service and atmosphere.

I understand that there is an issue with flies in the pub but if i am being honest i dont actually think serving food in this environment is acceptable. We simply could not eat our food. Staff were however apologetic but unfortunatley by this point our evening was already ruined.

Thank you for looking after us on Sunday despite how busy you were.  The carvery was fantastic and the meat and vegetables were cooked to perfection and your special mash was magical.  The band you had playing just topped off a fantastic afternoon early evening spent with you.  I look forward to visiting you again before we go home.

Didn’t enjoy the experience, there were flies everywhere and we had to shield our food from them. Eat the food as fast as we could and left, we even took my daughter pizza and she eat it in the car!

Dined at the ship Inn the food was quite good , The only problem we encountered was staff were in my opinion doing too many jobs, working the bar, taking orders, serving the food, although they were very polite and friendly.

Without doubt this is the finest pub in Yorkshire by a mile. The staff are absolutely brilliant and always greet you with a smile. The food is delicious and they now have an outdoor pizza oven which is exceptional. Highly recommend this place.
