My wife and I had dinner at The Olive Tree on Friday 7 June 2024. The restaurant had been recommended by the Beryl bed and breakfast where we stayed for the night. We both really enjoyed our meals. We shared an onion bhaji starter that was light and delicious. I had the pork cheek main - which was tender and tasty - and my wife had hake in a chowder sauce that was also delicious. I had the treacle tart for pudding - which was nice but not remarkable - and my wife had the Eton mess which was lovely. The atmosphere and service was good and, unsurprisingly, the place was fairly full. Overall, a very nice meal and experience - and much better than we had expected.

Absolutely stunning food for four of us for Friday lunch. Highly recommended. Everything was beautifully presented, tasted even better, calm, relaxed, joyous atmosphere. Catered well for the gluten free member of the party, checking about allergies and food choices. Fabulous all the way through, thank you again Adam and your team for a lovely afternoon!

My wife and I visited the Olive Tree for the first time, for our wedding anniversary meal. The staff were lovely and friendly, so professional. As for the food, simply amazing! All so delicious and beautifully prepared. We had a really lovely evening.

Wonderful place for an evening out. Food was absolutely delicious and attentive friendly service. We were with family over from Australia and they couldn’t praise it enough. We’ve booked again for a Sunday lunch and can’t wait to go back! Thank you

My husband and I enjoyed a great meal at the Olive Tree restaurant on a Wednesday lunchtime whilst visiting Wells. I had let them know that I have coeliac disease when booking and this was acknowledged as soon as I arrived. I felt that the staff were knowledgeable and helpful about the gluten free options and I felt very safe eating there. We had a starter and main each which were all very tasty especially the onion bhaji. Great location just off the market square.

Fabulous Sunday lunch with family. Freshly cooked, hot and a good choice of meats. Pudding menu varied and equally good. Only criticism was the roast potatoes, beautifully crisp but portion size small, only 3 very tiny potatoes equating to probably 1 medium sized potato. Staff friendly and attentive, would recommend.

I booked lunch for myself and my American clients and we were all wowed by the food and the atmosphere. The whole experience was like dining in a high-end central London restaurant in the evening. Absolutely amazing and highly recommended. Thank you.

Thoroughly enjoyed our early dinner before going on to a concert in the cathedral. Very attractive and tasty plates of food. Particularly enjoyed the sea bass with roasted vegetables while my husband loved the duck. Very comfortable, welcoming smiles and greetings. Will return.

Have been many times to the former location and now to 7B. This evening visit was with visiting friends and we all enjoyed the usual high standards of welcome, service, food and wine. My started was gazpacho with crayfish, on the menu for the first time this year, delicious and skate (two of us) and bass to follow, with lovely Loire white. One of my visitors who is unusually allergic to lupin (!) was very impressed with the care to ensuring there was none. Not cheap but all worth every penny and pound. Will remain a favourite. Must book.

Every time I visit, I am able to commend the excellent service and quality of food. All that surprises me is that you do not have a Michelin "Bib Gourmand" award - it would be well deserved. This was our first Sunday lunch with you and it was to your normal standard, thank you.

Our recent dinner at Goodfellows was lovely, and just right for a birthday celebration. We enjoyed a Kir Royale as an aperitif. The starters of French sausage and crab were tasty and the mains of duck confit were both succulent and substantial., and were complemented by a glass of smooth merlot. Desserts of chocolate and walnut tart and afogato rounded off the meal nicely.

Charming ‘at home’ restaurant. One of the best in Wells.
