Please note that our ratings are only for the evening meal we had and it was very nice. The choices were plenty and the quality of the food was good. The service at our table was friendly and efficient, thanks to Fiona. Reception was a pleasant experience thanks to Kim. The dining room, lounge and other public areas in the hotel are very nice. A mention for Earl, a very pleasant and interesting gentleman who works the late shift and helped to cover our breakfast service! All of the staff were excellent (apologies to the two others whose names I didn't get). Unfortunately, the room let it all down badly. We were in room 42 at the (very) top of the hotel and it was poor (and I'm trying to be as kind as I can here). Absolutely no view, which is bound to be the case for some rooms but it is in no way made up for by the decor and fabric of the room. The bedding (on a very small double-bed) was clean and the towels fresh and sufficient. The in-bath shower pressure is almost zero and the bathroom in general was very 'tired'. The main area of the room was similarly below the standard one would expect for the price.

Absolutely recommend the Blue Anchor Brixham! Our annual visit always begins with a nice cold beer after a long drive then at least 3 bookings in the restaurant over the time we're there! Food is fab, beer wonderful and the bar staff very friendly and welcoming! looking forward to going back this year :)

A friendly, traditional, quayside pub frequented by trawlermen and other locals as well as visitors that come back year after year. The well kept cellar provides excellent real ales. Visitors return time after time for brandy coffees and crab sandwiches as well as beers and spirits, they also enjoy the tables outside overlooking the harbour and the convivial atmosphere inside this historic pub.

I would completely avoid this one based on the poor service and poor quality of food. Took almost one hour to be served once the waitress finally took the order. Drinks were very cold due to waiting. Apologies were made but needed someone with more authority to explain why. £26 later for 3 adults and 1 child. The haddock was of low quality and very little taste! Had far better from Morrisons cafe! I would be happy to receive contact from the manager! Hope you add this to your site as I will be looking! If not I would like you to contact me as to why not. Thanks. Keith Allan (07894 944745).

Brixham Fish Restaurant – Brixham

Two telephone calls to book resulted in arrival to find name taken down incorrectly. Poor and indifferent service. "Move those plates so I can put this down". Very cramped table with not enough room for the crockery. Request to be moved denied "all other tables booked" when in fact not occupied throughout our visit. Seafood platter over cooked, some shellfish probably undersized to be legal and scallops full of sand. House wine on take it or leave it basis when we requested alternative to Chardonnay. Basically.. very overrated and just what we should have expected from Brixham!!.. the land of fish and chips. There are much much better seafood restaurants in Torbay. Would have told them all this, had they bothered to ask.

Having visited the Manor on a few occasions recently I must say that the quality of the food is superb. Last night i had cajun spiced gurnard and for £9-95 was one of the best main courses i have ever eaten. The menu is varied and there is a good choice of specials which change regularly. All the food is home cooked and the chef is excellent. Also recommend the fish & Chips & the goats cheese & vegetable lasagne.

Outstanding is an understatement for this fantastic place. My wife treated me to a night out here for my birthday, and from the moment you step through the door you are made to feel welcome by the owner and her great staff, nothing and I mean nothing is too much trouble. The food is nothing short of superb, in portion, very large, and taste, well 7th heaven, do try the scallops and the lobster pure bliss. this is by far the best place we have eaten in for many a year and cannot wait to return in September. Highly recommend to all, but do book in advance. Many Thanks to all at The Poop Deck for a truly great evening, see you soon.
