Lovely old pub in the village of Broughton which I love. Food well presented and pretty good. Service was good but understaffed for the hot sunny day. The place is clearly making an effort.

Still the best beer of any pub I have been to. Also my favourite beer is a permanent fixture namely Hawkshead Windermere pale Ale. Love the atmosphere of this 'real' community pub. Don't really do food and don't expect modern style but a winner all the same.

Wonderful Valentines meal at Beswicks last night. Prawns on celeriac, sauteed mushrooms,medallions of beef, fillet steak. Followed by the best Pavlova we have ever had. Very good Cote de Beaune wine and a nice port to round it off. Good value and very good silver service.

Wet through on a hellish night. Warmed up with some Lamb curry and beer. Excellent on both counts..

We stayed near Broughton in Furness for a pre Christmas break with the family. We found 2 places on Sugarvine that we thoroughly enjoyed. One was Beswicks and we would highly recommend it to anyone coming to the area.

My husband and I were staying near Broughton early December. We used Sugarvine to find somehwere to eat and were delighted with the Blacksmiths Arms. A true old lakes pub restaurant. Food was far better than we expected and we loved sitting by the range with the fire on!

Broughton Tennis Club had it's Christmas meal at the Square Cafe on saturday. Everyone was very impressed with the food and atmosphere. Think they have already booked in for next year!. Great place for a private party.

Great place eat in or takeout. Won lots of awards. Love the pies and quiches and the cinnamon twirls!

The Square Cafe is quaint with its roaring fire and its mis-matched furniture and art. The service from the young kids can leave something to be desired and you are better of sticking to old favourites like egg and chips.

Lamb shank was excellent as was the wife's Haddock and chips. Good pint of Dent and friendly locals. A superior Cumbrian pub.

Enjoyed my scampi, chips and salad at the High Cross. Friendly service and the beer was good too. Next time I will hog the roaring fire!

Very tasty meatballs and the wife had a veggie Stroganoff. The area was having a powercut but they still managed to accommodate us. Very helpful and friendly service from the young team.

The best beer in Christendom. Deservedly CAMRA pub of the year 2013. No food to speak of though, apart from cheese toasties and a fine selected of sweeties. It's all about the beer.

Award wining bakery with a great little cafe too. Have used them for outside catering and regularly get take outs. Vey much enjoyed my Chees and Leeks on Toast last time I ate in.

Love this place!! Cakes are gorgeous, the bread is amazing and the staff are really lovely. Try the cinnamon swirls (to die for!)

Great spot in an olde worlde pub we found on Sugarvine. We both enjoyed our lunch and a couple of beers. Would return when in the area.

We left full and content after our Chilli and Pasta dishes. Great old pub.
