Nice welcome . My son and I only had a main each . My son had the fish pie ,which was dry and the hollandaise sauce was split . My mussels were ok tiny and the sauce thin and watery . The service at the table was great ( I’m sorry I don’t know his name but he is often there on Friday /Saturday ) No one acknowledged our leaving ,or said “Thankyou “ or “Goodbye “ It had been a cold day but the fire wasn’t lit . Overall ,I was really disappointed. As a local I really really want the pub to be successful, but the food was average .

Very enjoyable evening meal. Starters freshly made. Main meal freshly made too. The halibut was delicious. Puddings good too. This was the first time we had visited with the new owners and it did not disappoint. Staff pleasant.

Never a negative. Have always enjoyed our visits & meals always exceptional. Recent visit, a birthday lunch with my Stepmother. Excellent meal, halibut, delicious. They kindly brought out a Birthday Plate to make our celebration more special. Looking forward to our next visit!

My first visit to The Pheasant at Keyston was back in 1984. I've visited several times over the years since and always found it a great place to entertain and be entertained! On this latest occasion, we received a very warm welcome from excellent staff. The menu was well balanced and clear for each dish. Whilst the "set price lunch menu" items were marked on the al la carte menu, there were no restrictions in mixing items. The food was very tasty and prepared from quality ingredients. The Black Pudding, which we were told was "homemade", was particularly good! The staff were very accommodating over moving from our assigned table after the meal to a table more suitable for the exchange of family presents. It was an excellent location, close to the A14, for the family to meet together when travelling from different parts of the country. Altogether, a very pleasant and satisfying experience.

I normally go to the Pheasant for Sunday lunch. I went for Friday lunch this time. I can’t praise the Pheasant high enough for the quality of the food the staff ,who are extremely friendly and that goes for the owner too who obviously cares about her customers. I think if you have never been book it now it’s a great place.

Visited with 3 friends for the 1st time on the 7th October for lunch. I loved the cosy atmosphere and the service was good. However the food was really disappointing so it did not live up to our expectations. We all had different meals but we ended up leaving a lot of food on our plates and yet this was not queried by the waitress when we were paying the bill. In fact the best part was the lovely bread and butter. This was a real shame as we were hoping that we had found a little gem not too far away.

We love the location and were able to sit outside in the autumn sun. The food was very good, well cooked and very tasty - the cheese fritters were a fantastic surprise. Overall excellent and cannot wait to return again

Delicious as usual. My dining partner is quite traditional in his menu choices but really enjoyed something new and refreshing. The lunch menu - 2 courses for £20 is exceptionally good value See you again soon

Sad to say we were very underwhelmed!!! We arrived and were taken straight to our table. We had to ask for a wine list/drinks menu, we waited 20mins with no one coming back to our table to take our drinks order. We ended up having to go to the bar to ask for someone to come to our table so we could order drinks. The waitress didn’t know what beer was available and had to go and ask. We asked what the gravy was being served with one of the starters, she said she didn’t know probably just normal gravy but she could check. We asked about one of the mains and she didn’t know so she got what we presume was the manager to come and talk to us. We wanted to ask about other elements of dishes in order to help us to decided what to have, but decided it was a bad idea knowing she would have to go and ask someone else as she didn’t have the knowledge. Food was nice but average, didn’t feel like a treat. We had asked for a side to go with one of the main meal dishes which didn’t arrive with the meal. Our main course was served to us by another waitress who hadn’t taken our original order, so she went to check what was written down, she did eventually bring it to us and apologised for the mix up. We didn’t bother with desserts as nothing grabbed our attention. At no point did anyone ask if we needed more drinks etc or an after dinner coffee. We asked for the bill which took about 20minutes to arrive with our rather nervous looking waitress. She was sweet, and no discredit to her, but clearly she needed a more detailed brief about what she was serving and how to engage with customers. Agreed we all have to start somewhere but please give her more support as it was evident she was very uncomfortable not just with us but when we saw her interacting with other diners too. We left and no one even acknowledged us leaving, which is poor show when we had just spent £100 plus a 10% tip. (We chose to still tip the waitress as we didn’t feel it was kind to not tip her when it was evident she needed more training, it wasn’t because she wasn’t willing). As we left we all we heard was several of the staff behind the bar talking about what tips they were getting, not a great thing to be hearing anytime let alone when no one even took the time to acknowledge us walking through the restaurant, and bar before we got to the door to leave. No one said goodbye. All in all we came away feeling disappointed and won’t be returning. A total shame as we did have high expectations.

What a hidden gem. The Pheasant was recommended to us and we were not disappointed. Lovely old pub with a recent restoration. Friendly staff, fabulous food and we especially enjoyed choosing wine from their expensive list. We will be going again.
