Renishaw Hall and Gardens Cafe – ChesterfieldSuperb fathers day afternoon tea. The food was excellent and the staff was very friendly and couldn't do enough for you. This was our 3rd afternoon tea and will definitely be booking again.
Renishaw Hall and Gardens Cafe – ChesterfieldHad the most amazing time at Renishaw Hall. My M.I.L and I came for the luxury afternoon tea and l9ved every bit of it the sandwiches were fresh and the pastries, cakes and scones were divine. I would thoroughly recommend and will be coming again.
Renishaw Hall and Gardens Cafe – ChesterfieldWe had a lovely tour of the vineyard with a very informative talk by the owner. The booking information mentioned it being cold in the cellars, but we never actually left the vineyard, so not sure if that's a misprint. There seemed to have been a bit of confusion when it came to the afternoon tea. We had a voucher for deluxe afternoon tea for two, which offered a savoury option. The voucher said to enter the code when booking online, but there was no place to do that. So, we emailed and had a response confirming our booking at 2pm. We were seated and brought a pot of tea, and waited for someone to come and check which afternoon tea we wanted. Instead, two traditional afternoon teas were brought out. We queried this and the waitress said we needed to specify savoury in the box for special requirements and allergies when booking online. As we had not booked online due to not being able to enter our voucher, this didn't happen. I also don't think we would have thought to specify a menu choice in a box for special requirement and allergies. Across the catering industry I've never seen such a box used to make a choice from a menu. It is used to request a specific seating area, make people aware of accessibility needs, or inform the staff of allergies. The sweet selection for the afternoon tea was very nice, but the savoury really let it down. All the sandwiches were plain cheese, beef, or wafer thin ham, on just buttered bread. No sauce such as horseradish. A bit of a step down from the smoked salmon, cream cheese and cucumber, or truffled egg mayonnaise and cress advertised. The mini scotch eggs, mini pork pies, and sausage rolls were clearly supermarket buffet selections, and very low quality. The voucher also included a glass of Renishaw Hall wine. We mentioned this and someone returned with a glass of sparkling wine, rather than offering us a choice. Having just tasted the Renishaw sparkling wine on the tour, we could tell that wasn't what was in our glasses. Like most people, we found there was too much too eat, so we asked if what was left could be boxed for us. From previous experience of afternoon teas, we expected someone to take the food away and return with it in a box. Instead, a waitress gave us a handful of paper bags and said "sorry, we don't have any boxes." Overall, the staff were very nice, and a lady from the kitchen was particularly helpful in trying to resolve the mix up over not having a savoury version for us. The grounds and building are lovely and in a picturesque setting. I'm not one for leaving negative reviews, but we did leave feeling we didn't receive what was promised and hope pointing out this experience will help the management to address these issues.
Renishaw Hall and Gardens Cafe – ChesterfieldIt was a lovely Afternoon Tea for our friend who was celebrating her 80th Birthday. The table was set out beautifully and the service was very good. We all could not manage to eat all of the tea and the staff thoughtfully provided boxes to take our left overs home. I have another event booked for the end of July with our local singing group and I hope the Cream Tea is just as nice. Thank you
Renishaw Hall and Gardens Cafe – ChesterfieldWe booked an afternoon tea for three people. With one requesting a vegetarian and another vegan meal. All three meals were very good but the vegan meal was exceptional. The choice of cake was great and the taste was exceptional. Great atmosphere and a throughly enjoyable afternoon.
Renishaw Hall and Gardens Cafe – ChesterfieldWhat a very special experience for lunch. The surroundings are beautiful, food fantastic and service second to none
Renishaw Hall and Gardens Cafe – ChesterfieldThree booked for lunch. We were sat in the Rex Whistler Room as requested which we were pleased with as the other part of the cafe was very busy. Two of the meals were great. Unfortunately a chain saw would have been the only tool to get through the baked potato skin and the salad was covered in balsamic glaze which I don’t like. We were not asked about a salad dressing.
Renishaw Hall and Gardens Cafe – ChesterfieldVisted Renishaw Hall for afternoon tea. The service, food and the environment were fantastic. One of the nicest afternoon teas ive experienced, the food was excellent, this included 4 finger sandwiches per person, a sausage roll and an individual mini quiche, a beautiful large homemade scone with a tub of clotted cream and a jar of jam, a selection of small cakes and a garnish of Blueberries, strawberies and raspberries. It was delicious. The staff were so friendly and very attentive, nothing was too much trouble.
Renishaw Hall and Gardens Cafe – ChesterfieldWe had a lovely breakfast, beautiful fresh produce with attentive staff. Our only negative observation, while I am a dog lover, we did observe a young lady allow a dog to jump up her apron, she petted the small dog and returned to service without washing her hands. This did put me off, as it is basic hygiene.
Renishaw Hall and Gardens Cafe – ChesterfieldWe went for afternoon tea for my family hen do and it was fantastic! They decorated the table up for the occasion and no request was too small. Our server Natalie was fab and made me feel so special, plus the food was delicious! Thank you!
Renishaw Hall and Gardens Cafe – ChesterfieldI cannot praise the cafe enough. I organised a baby shower for my friend this weekend, and the team were so incredibly helpful, despite me having to make multiple changes including bringing the date forward with not much notice. The food (lunchtime buffet) was delicious, the service was excellent, and I was blown away by how beautifully they had laid out the table. Several of the guests commented on how lovely it was and that they would look to come back for their own events. Thank you so much!!
Renishaw Hall and Gardens Cafe – ChesterfieldFeel unhappy to write this but very dissapointed this weekend. Booked a table only to find on arrival no table had been saved. Can appreciate it was a busy time for them but shouldn't have been excuse to say they had not looked at the web site. Didn't get to eat as what we would have choose had run out. Very unfortunate
Renishaw Hall and Gardens Cafe – ChesterfieldAnother fantastic breakfast, this time for my birthday and it’s the little things that make your experience memorable - Michelle the Chef came out with a little cake and candle and sang happy birthday! Once again, fantastic staff, service and food. I continue to tell everyone about this little gem of a cafe.
Renishaw Hall and Gardens Cafe – ChesterfieldWe were disappointed this weekend when we visited the Renishaw Hall Cafe. As always, the service was welcoming and friendly whilst the courtyard setting provides an excellent venue . However, when we arrived, and despite booking, we found that Roast Sunday Lunch is now no longer an option. We substituted with an unremarkable meat and potato pie with chips and peas which challenged a good value for money rating. In mitigation I would say that everybody has an off day, don’t they?
Renishaw Hall and Gardens Cafe – ChesterfieldWe had a fantastic birthday breakfast at Renishaw cafe. The food was really nice and the staff were very helpful. A special thank you must go to Fleur who was very attentive throughout our time there.
Renishaw Hall and Gardens Cafe – ChesterfieldStaff friendly. Surroundings very pleasant. Queue for ordering was very long. Maybe get an additional till operating so not just one person serving? Long wait for food. Enjoyed our lunch when it arrived.
Renishaw Hall and Gardens Cafe – ChesterfieldWe had another very positive experience this weekend at the Renishaw Hall Cafe. We enjoyed an excellent Sunday lunch whilst the service was both efficient and friendly. This cafe complements a visit to the Hall’s gardens very well. It is one of the best kept secrets in the area - highly recommended.
