I'd been meaning to try this place for a while because of it's reputation, but I'm not sure it's completely well founded. Don't get me wrong, it's nice, perhaps a bit pricey on some things for the quality (the £17 steak wasn't the best). The atmosphere is nice although a little touristy, the food all sounded nice but we found it to be overly salty. Also they don't serve drinks to your table so you have to keep traipsing back up to the bar throughout your meal. The ribs with devilled peas are recommended.

29th march 2008 visited early evening, when not too busy. good food and great location, but spoilt by over attentive and fussy staff. requested a table for two, was shown a table near the area where food was served from, so asked for one away from this area, was told tables where booked,the place was empty at 6.30!! the food was delicious, but to be asked 6 times by staff if everything was ok, gets a bit irritating, let the food speak for itself.. probably wont return as we felt pressured into rushing the meal, with over zealous hovering staff.

Amazing! Mitton hall has been completely transformed into a very special place. We visited on thursday lunchtime and enjoyed the experience so much we returned on Saturday night and again with friends on Sunday lunchtime. On each occasion we were entertained by a double act behind the bar one singing and one who wouldn't have looked out of place in Goodfella's. The food is to die for and the service with a smile will keep us going back for more. Not to mention that we really would like to know from mark and Andy what actually did happen 15 minutes later.. Good pate and good fish and chips...... but rapidly becoming a place we cringe at going to since it is so packed with wannabee WAGs and millions of children! I think the fishes has had it's day. Try Mitton Hall for gorgeous decor or The Red Pump for better food instead!

First visit here on recommendation. Well impressed. Very good food indeed. Had rabbit casserole and chocolate fondant pudding. Gorgeous. Will return

First class Italian restaurant with excellent food and welcoming professional service. The home made pasta is fantastic and the huge selection of food and wine make this one of our favourite current places to eat.

Great, great location, great service and blimey many must agree as it was packed with a waiting list!

My daughter was married there yesterday It was fantastic, The atmosphere the hall the room the staff nothing was to much trouble. I can thoroughly recommend the venue and it is excellent value. It was a perfect place for a very special and perfect occasion.

We held our wedding at Mitton Hall on 11th Jan 08. We had a few concerns following the takeover but after meeting with Rachel & Maurice, we were put at ease. Our wedding day was absolutely amazing and it's all thanks to everyone at Mitton Hall. The day was perfect with great food, attentive staff and great organisation, we really couldn't fault it. Thanks for making our day perfect in every way x

Amazing! The transformation of Mitton Hall is astounding. From the decor, the food, and the smiling service. The place is a must. We were recommended to pay a visit by friends who also couldn't believe the transformation, The staff in place are brilliant. Mel our waitress was first class and our silver toothed barman a laugh a minute. Congratulations to all

Visiting Mitton Hall on a Friday evening one could get the impression you had crashed a family get together. The staff are kissed hello and goodbye everybody knows everybody else and every customer seems to know Andy the barman! We were welcomed, not served, but "Looked after" from pre dinner drinks to coffee. The food is out of this world and sent out on slates. We will be visiting again with friends very soon!!

Best cottage pie I can recall having. Great location in the countryside outside of Clitheroe and its got rooms. May have to go and stay so I can sample the beer too!

We visited Mitton Hall last Saturday for evening drinks. The decor is exquisite, the building is breathtaking, the atmosphere is encapsulating. The place is unique in that it simply has everything, attentive staff, exciting menus, a fabulous setting, a real sense of historical interest and breathtaking countryside. We are eager to revisit as soon as possible and have recommended it to many friends.

This is borderline ok. Had an early supper here with family. Like Weezo's very much but this is different. Historic village pub with an immediate audience. Food sounds good but could have been better in our view.

Our second visit this weekend. My review is it is consistently good. We visited in August (I reviewed it in here) after finding it by mistake. The place was very busy on Saturday and we were pleased we reserved a table, although it seemed so unhurried and relaxed, we instantly chilled out and wished we'd booked a oom to stay the night like the couple on the next table to us. Superb food as our last visit. Starters included a spicy crab cake with mango salsa and the home-made gravalax were excellent. My main course was a steak, I went for a fillet this time it was Pendle extra matured beef and I ate it with a butter knife, it was excellent and had flavour. My wife had belly pork; ridiculously fattening but sublimely sweet. The puddings have gotten better since our summer visit. A blackcurrent sponge with licorice ice cream was amazing. This is not the place if you want to people watch and pose, but if you like your food real and the other diners to chat to you in the cosy snug (where we were....right by the fire!) this is definately worth a visit or two. Superb. Our new fave place.
