We are regulars here - there is always a warm welcome and the staff are friendly yet professional. Steaks and pasta are always excellent. The restaurant is also very child-friendly.

Amico Mio – ClitheroeThe Parkers Arms has recently been taken over by the same people who own and run Weezo's. Using local suppliers they provide fantastic hearty pub food supported by an exquisite wine list. I would strongly recommend a visit to this little gem of a pub nestled in one of the most scenic areas of England. With open roaring fires in the winter and cooler months, it is the ideal place to relax after enjoying the many varied walks around the local area. Or even if you just want a run out in the car, where better to go.
Parkers Arms – ClitheroeFirst time on sugarvine (recommended to me, I'm impressed, will return) and first time to the Red Pump Inn on a friends say-so. Don't expect scrubbed pine tables and contempory art, this place is a country inn and has a menu to match, lots of game (I had roast partridge which was excellent), very good choice of local steak and my wife had the belly pork and could not compliment it enough. Very good first visit. Warm (huge roaring fire a delight), clean and friendly. I was very impressed by the attitude the staff had with my son (Archie aged 9 years; thinks he's 16) particularly on a Friday night at 8.30pm. Often problematic when offered a children? menu, but must congratulate the Red Pump in a superb choice for younger folk. Archie had a medium-cooked rib-eye steaks and chips off the children? menu and ate without a murmur for almost half an hour....we were worried for a while but he seemed to come to when the deserts came. Lemon and lime cheesecake excellent, brioche bread and butter pudding excellent and gooey chocolate brownie had the same silencing effect on our son. We will definitely return. Very very good indeed.
The Red Pump Inn – ClitheroeWe've never had a bad meal here and the food is always top notch. It's great to eat with a tablecloth under your plate(call me old fashioned) rather than from a wood or plastic table. The staff are excellent and well trained. Food comes at a reasonable pace with just the right distance between courses. Wine is well chosen and not exorbitant. The resident proprietors are attentive to detail and I believe that this is one of the best restaurants in Lancashire.
Spread Eagle – ClitheroeThis was my second visit to the Red Pump Inn, last year we stumbled across it on a drive out for my dad's birthday and came away very happy customers. What a rare treat in the world of microwaves and instant meals to find a place so committed to real home made food and local produce. This time we visited for my mums birthday and once again we were overwhelmed by the lovely atmosphere, helpful and friendly staff and excellent choice of food on offer. We'd had family members who had not been before and they left feeling as we had the first time we visited. Jon and Martina could not make people feel more at home and local even though we aren't (we drove up from Liverpool) and I would not hesitate to recommend this place to anyone. thank you Red Pump Inn for making every visit special.
The Red Pump Inn – ClitheroeI eat out at many places but this was one of the best. The food was outstanding, i even managed two portions of sticky toffee pudding it was that good. The service was great, very polite. It was a good atmosphere all the staff were very friendly. I recommend it to anybody who is passing over pendle, you will have a great meal and at a reasonable price. X
Wellsprings Inn Pendle Hill – ClitheroeVery good supper indeed. Nice to see jugged hare on a menu....absolutely delicious. Home made breads an absolute treat. Lots of very good choice and the owners (two lovely people with a real and genuine love for what they do) were attentive. The young chef came out to have a chat with some "regulars" seated close by....we eavesdropped into their conversation and he was just interested to know what they thought of a new dish on the vast specials board..... how delightfully and reassuringly old fashioned in a culinary world of "poshnosh". We will go back very soon.
The Red Pump Inn – ClitheroeTravelled for 3/4 hour to get here. Packed to the rafters. Like a posh "brewers fayre". Not for my age group really I don't think. Very good reviews and general "foody" books do place this restaurant on a very high pedestal but I don't really think it is a genuinely outstanding place at all. Other very good "inns" around the area much more worthy of a visit although it is great to have such a tourist attraction in the valley like the fishes so I can't mark it too low. Being a lecturer.... it could do better and coasts a bit on its reputation
The Three Fishes – ClitheroeVery good, was offered cake by a young looking lad with ear fones in
The Emporium – ClitheroeI have just stayed here with my husband for his birthday. Food very good (breakfast menu fab....lunchtime reductions off main menu a nice surprise and specials boards at night very very good...in fact hard to choose what to have), rooms excellent, wine and beer not expensive but good choice. This is a hidden gem and the future plans for the place sound great. Definitely a place to watch out for when you go to the Ribble Valley.
The Red Pump Inn – Clitheroewe have just arrived home from a drive to the Red Pump (which we last visited 15yrs ago) and what a difference. we had an excellent lunch. Stuffed mushroom filled with pate battered and deep fried. I had the rack of lamb for my main course on the landlords say, so he's not a bad judge, it was very good. My other half went for the roast sirloin of beef which was tender and tasty (the portions being large I had to finish the beef ) We thanked the landlord and landlady plus the chef who had come into the dining room for a very nice lunch. As we were leaving we asked if the Red Pump had guest bedrooms and we were given the guided tour they are very nice well worth a look.
The Red Pump Inn – Clitheroefabulous.... well done jon and marti .... happy new year. big kiss xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx rosie and mike x
The Red Pump Inn – ClitheroeVery nice surprise. The Inn At Whitewell was bursting at the seams and it was a horrible day. The Red Pump was down the road and we were wet and cold and hungry. We were greeted by a roaring fire, very pleasant hosts and owners and a few tables who's obviously been before and the banter was hilarious. Not terribly busy but that wasn't a problem when we had our food! I had smoked loin of local pork and my husband had the Bowland hotpot and they were both excellent, full of proper home cooked flavour and nicely presented. More a gastro pub than a pub (is that a really bad thing nowadays?...sorry if offended red pump!, but meant as compliment). definitely will visit again....resident dog is worth the visit again alone (as well as the pork loin!!). Had two desserts (all very obviously home made) and were excellent; tried the lemon and lime cheesecake with ginger, lemon and lime sauce and lemon confit and it was very good, my husband had the home made red berry ice cream. very very good......
The Red Pump Inn – ClitheroeI know everyone I speak to raves about the Three Fishes and I am not about to disrespect it but I really did not find anything "outstanding". We were a group of 8 so could book ahead and that was a smart move since when we arrived on a Sunday afternoon at 1.30 the place was absolutely full. We were on the 3 course Christmas menu for £19.00 and whilst the price was average the value for money was very good. Service was slow. We had booked and pre-ordered for 2pm and received our starters at 2.30; mains were served approximately 50 minutes later. Whilst the service was slow the waiting staff were faultless, knowledgeable and very charming. The quality of the food was very good but not outstanding. The pate was very robust (whole chicken livers); the turkey was tasty with firm root vegetables and the roast potato was hard on both the outside and the inside! However the apple sponge pudding was superb and that was outstanding but the other two courses were "very good". I don't want to put people off because I will certainly be back but to sample the ordinary menu rather than the Christmas one. This is a totally non smoking establishment but there is the Smoking Hut outside which I found more than acceptable for my post lunch nicotine fix. I really did want to score the Three Fishes as "outstanding" in all aspects but the little niggles I found brought this down to a "very good" but don't let that put you off because I will certainly be back.
The Three Fishes – ClitheroeGreendale is set in the heart of the picturesque Ribble Valley nestled between the villages of Chatburn and Downham (AKA Ormston from the BBC series Born and Bread). I found the traditional English menu to be of an exceptionally high standard and although the waitress were young and inexperienced they made up for it in politeness and helpfulness.
Greendale View Kitchen and B&B – ClitheroeExcellent, very enjoyable meal and cheap too. However did not enjoy that smoking was allowed inside.
Greendale View Kitchen and B&B – ClitheroeMy wife swears she has never had belly pork like that for years. Excellent meal and evening all round and every credit to this new young couple who absolutely made the place a super evening out. It was their first birthday from opening and our first time there for many years (after being recommendation by a friend who'd been there the saturday before)..It was busy but not to the point where you want to leave because you feel like a battery chicken. Now I know meat.... having been a farmer and butcher (of sorts) for almost 30 years and I had a steak, a ribeye and it was sublime, properly aged beef and cooked to perfection. Then we sat in the snug with the fire roaring and a large Brandy.... I truly did not want to leave (only that their accommodation was fully booked I would have stayed the night!). One criticism..... the portions were a little too big despite the obvious excellent quality of the produce used, which could put some off (my wife was a little overfaced with the belly pork but insisted on eating it all anyway!) We wish them all the best; they deserve every credit..... and I promise not to steal their dog as was hinted on the night! Best regards J. Myerscough;(no relation!).... the chap with the old Rolls and the wife who looks like Cybil Fawlty (she'll kill me for that!)
The Red Pump Inn – ClitheroeHad our first visit to the three Fishes this weekend& were really blown away. We knew it wasn't possible to book so arrived at midday & joined the crowd of a dozen or so stood outside waiting for the doors to open! What a lovely atmosphere & best of all Real, Local food! I loved the map on the menu indicating where all the meat, veg, cheeses & wine are sourced. A really good range for vegetarians too with no veggie lasagne or pasta bake in sight. The service was excellent - attentive but not over bearing & the food was delicious. The Christmas menu definitely is worth a look too.
