On visiting one Saturday night, group of 6 of us dined on the recommendation of a friend. We came at obviously a very busy night but waited an acceptable our or so. We had a broad selection from the menu, but the treacle ribs with devilled black peas were quite superb, a couple of dishes were sold out unfortunately but didn? detract from a very enjoyable meal, the only down side was the price of the drinks from the bar which were pricey

I love this restaurant. A 'typical' Italian I suppose but with a huge menu choice, generous portions and really, really tasty food. Their sauces are wonderful so boring pasta is always a delight. Dishes like garlic mushrooms are different from the standard in every other Italian. It's small and cosy, waiting on staff are professional and friendly, Go on a Wednesday and there is a piano/keyboard player and Friday a guitarist. You need to book though. Price is OK - about £7.00 for a pasta I can't recommend it enough. My favourite restaurant at the moment.

I have visited here twice now, in November and more recently in February and the food was excellent and French inspired. The service was knowledgeable, attentive and friendly. I went with my husband and at 32 we were the youngest in there by a long way. This may be because it is a long way out on a winters evening or that there is a very delicious and reasonably priced set menu, as well as an a la carte. I can't speak for the wine as I was driving, the only downside. But my husband described his rioja as 'superb'. Apparently it is in a really lovely stetting but as both times we have arrived after dark, so we will have to go again, as the nights draw out.

There has been an Inn there since the late 19th Century, although it looks nothing like it now The Wellsprings is a charming place and the variety of their cooking and choice in beverage is highly recommended. The ambience and the views of the Ribble Valley make it a place to visit time and time again.

What a welcoming homely pub/restaurant this is, you feel relaxed as soon as you walk through the door. The service is excellent and the food is of a very high standard the menu is extensive with quite a lot of flair but you have to have a good appetite the portions are large all the meals use fresh ingredients and are freshly cooked

Excellent Starter of Japanese Prawns with Spicy Dip. Others had Mushroom Tart( Yummy), and Melon with Prawns( very generous). Main Courses include- Worston Whale ( excellent !), Lamb Henry, ( gorgeous & generous serving), Hot Steak Sandwich( overflowing with Steak, Mushrooms, Melted Cheese, Onions etc.) Bar & Restaurant Staff are very friendly & efficient. We travelled from Rossendale, and saw lots of folk we knew-- well worth the journey!!

I can concur with the previous report that the food was outstanding. My partner pointed out though that the food had a little to much salt....... Will be returning as its the best Chinese food I have tasted for a long time.

lovely historic building with a distinct country gentry feel to it, food is very good and worthy of a top restaurant rather than an inn the only thing thing is the portions could be better and the chips where frozen chips which was a big letdown, the staff where a bit too keen to please by repeatedly asking if everything is ok, but other than that we enjoyed the experience.

You've seen it on many a sign outside a pub "Good Food, Friendly Welcome". Well this does exactly what it says on the tin! The food is all freshly prepared and really tasty with plenty of local influence. The friendly warm welcome is reinforced with a fantastic pint of "best" from the local Copper Dragon Brewery and a good quality wine list starting at £9 per bottle rounds off what can only be described as the best pub meal I've had this year. Value for money? - You bet!

What a great, friendly pub. Everything a pub should be! Food is great (try the hotpot!!!) and the beer is near perfect! (I reserve the perfect mark for the pint at Black Sheep brewery bar at Masham!) but all in all a great pub I will happily revisit when I am next in the north.

I have visited this place twice and both times found the food and service excellent. The setting was breath taking try and get there before the sun sets and have a drink outside before sitting down for your meal. Not to be missed

What an excellent place, the food was piping hot although very traditional all the dishes had a very modern twist. The friendliness of the staff was exceptional, warm, efficient, very professional but not over facing. The views from the restaurant where sensational, and coffee was served on the patio, nothing to much trouble. We will be returning

This place has definitely got the wow factor. Stunning food from a very extensive menu, Copper Dragon Real Ales on 3 hand pumps, and a price tag that does not melt your plastic. If you play darts or pool in the Settle league you get a fantastic free supper, and the Quiz on a Friday rocks. Get to the Buck at Paythorne folks you wont be disappointed.

Outstanding value, excellent food, good atmosphere. Hesitate to recommend it too highly as we want to be able to get in again, without it being too busy! Seriously - a definite 'try it for yourself' - you won't be disappointed

A very friendly neighbourhood restaurant, where you are made to feel very welcome. The food is regional north Italian, in particular Umbrian, so no pizzas. But excellent pastas and cheese platters are very inexpensive. Meat and fish dishes are always good. The food is authentic and the wines are excellent. Cinzia will recommend the appropriate wine to your food choices if you want. We had a slightly sparkling red on her suggestion to go with a cheese and salad platter, which matched the food perfectly. Children are always made to feel welcome. A lovely restaurant

To be honest had never heard of Pythorne and my wife and I were invited to join some friends for a special meal. The place advertises the perfect pint, remarkable food and a lovely warm welcome and to be honest it does exactly what it says on the tin. The lancashire hotpot beats any i have had when eating out my good lady settled for whole seabass with fresh chillies garlic and herb butter which was cooked to perfection and to top the whole thing they served copperdragon golden pippin and a fine selection of house wines. The prices where more than reasonable and we regularly attend the premises for the best Sunday roast this side of Yorkshire or is it Lancashire. Whatever well worth the travelling.

I enjoyed a lovely coffee in the al fresco area of Maxwells watching the world go by. It's an exciting addition to Clitheroe which didnt have any sophisticated and contempory venues before.
