We have eaten here many times but this past Saturday we took some friends for breakfast having told them how good the food was---well this week it was not so good!! The poached eggs were under-cooked--the whites were runny! This made the Eggs Florentine not so nice to eat. Such a shame

Excellent Sunday Lunch, very tender meat and an excellent array of vegetables all cooked perfectly. Very busy but service was good and the staff cheerful and helpful. Not the cheapest but still good value for money given the excellent food. A lovely venue to dine in.

We have been going to the Barn Cafe for Sunday breakfast for a couple of month’s now. We meet up at different Cafe/ Restaurants for breakfast every week & have sampled many venues in Essex over the years. I can honestly say that the Barn Cafe is up there with the best ones. The variety & quality of the food is extremely good & is cooked to perfection, the seating area is warm, light & pleasant & the staff are very professional, polite & accommodating. We can therefore recommend the Barn Cafe to anyone looking for a nice meeting place & meal.

Food was fab but it was a very slow service, our plain normal coffees took about 1/2 hour and the food was a bit slow too, we were going to have more coffee but they did advise there was a wait so we passed on more coffee and had one at home instead We will be back but maybe pick a quieter day

Food excellent as always especially the pecan pie with caramel sauce and clotted cream what's not to love, fish very good too. Staff very attentive even when very busy.

I’m sorry to say that we were disappointed with our breakfast meal. The coffee was weak and tasteless, the bacon was overcooked and we had to snap it rather than cut it. The black pudding was also overcooked, solid and difficult to eat. However the service was very good and the surroundings were very pleasant.

Came with friends as we find the venue and food consistently fabulous. The beverages took a long time to come- a very long time! However staff communicated this with us when we started to get twitchy explaining it was backed up. It was also a very busy session. We tried a new breakfast dish Turkish flat bread with poached eggs, walnuts and other bits. Flatbread was a bit too salty - an interesting choice but not for me.

Delicious food and original. Incredible cakes. New favourite place to eat. Not cheap but so good.

Slow service! My favourite meal was the Buddha Bowl but it wasn’t on the menu - please bring it back!! Not the best today but I’ll try again another day

Lovely food and staff but obviously short staffed as no one came over to ask if we wanted desert or another drink after our main meal was cleared away, had to go up to counter and ask for coffees about half hour later. Will definitely return though as such a nice place and good food and I’m sure staff situation will be rectified soon.

This is by far the best roast I’ve had anywhere, will definitely be returning

The quality of breakfast was absolutely excellent, as always. The only slight moan was that I had to "flag down" a waitress twice to get our order taken. Luckily, we weren't in a hurry, as we're retired. However, asking once is understandable but twice seems a bit lax

The food was very good but the service was very poor. We waited 20 minutes for our order to be taken, half an hour to receive our drinks of water, coffee and bottle of fruit juice and 45 minutes for our food. I wanted to order a dessert but thought it would take too long,
