Excellent as usual . Our favourite place for breakfast . Lunches are also very good , especially Sunday lunch .

Food was very nice. When being served it was always friendly and polite but it was slow at times.

Our favourite local restaurant. Great location and staff. Always busy and buzzy but what about the food ? The menu shrinks on each visit. Bring back the wonderful salads and omelette's . A soup in the winter. Choice is extremely limited !

l am a very regular visitor! But the new menu was disappointing, rather generic, no dishes of the day, very bread oriented. l had the Buddha bowl, my favourite, but sadly not as good as previously!! The staff, as always, are delightful. If the menu remains the same, l don’t think I’ll be visiting as regularly, which will be a huge shame, as The Barn is my go to place!

We visited on 28th January. Our drinks came quickly, but our food did not arrive. Our daughter asked about it, & on checking, it had not been done. Without us asking, we were told that all our drinks would not be charged for, and offered more. when our food came it was lovely, and it was appreciated about our free drinks. Thank you. We have been before, & will visit again.

Breakfast on Sunday 28.1.24. first visit of 2024. Been here too many times to mention. Always greeted with a smile, food excellent every time. Would definitely recommend.

Excellent food and service Waiting staff are attentive but not all over you . With a mixture of roast dinners and vegetarian meals all being great the food was excellent

A new menu yesterday! Initially a bit disappointed by the lack of choice and no dishes of the day , but that could have been due to first day after new kitchen fit. The ham eggs and potato terrine was delicious . The Buddha bowl not as nice as had previously .. sorry! Will be back though ! The staff are always lovely and helpful . One thing though the last 2 visits we have felt really cold round the legs in the restaurant , I think having the door open is the problem .

As always, staff very welcoming, nice atmosphere and good food. My only dislike is the cutlery especially the knives! However, that doesn't put me off going!

Great restaurant very accommodating to us

A present for my son who is heading off travelling… 5 Stars! The food, service and atmosphere… the best you could ask for. We had the tasting menu… every course lovely…a very enjoyable evening.

We had an enjoyable evening here last week, as a farewell dinner for my brother returning to Australia. Food was very good, and as I'm a small eater, they are always happy to accommodate my smaller portion request. Service and pricing was reasonable and we'll look forward to returning before too long - probably for a birthday breakfast!

The Barn is the only place in Colchester that has been consistent in it's excellent food. It's never let us down. The Sunday roasts are exquisite. Worth every penny. It's a proper roast with vegetables that have herbs and seasoning.... We are regulars and when we have visitors that is where we take them. Breakfasts are excellent. Packed with good quality ingredients and flavour. Guarantee a good breakfast, lunch or Sunday roast.

A lovely visit for Sunday morning breakfast, staff are always very attentive and friendly, food is well presented and very tasty. Only a minor point is that the restaurant is often on the chillier side but otherwise a lovely visit again.

Booking system very easy. Accommodated the needs of my elderly mother. Breakfast menu was very extensive. Food was outstanding along with service. Staff are extremely helpful and attentive

The food was nice although the prawn cocktail was in-fact crayfish, the waiters could have been a bit happier and more receptive upon arrival.
